Eva888: The vaccinated can pass on the virus just as easily as unvaccinated people can.

No, this is not correct, at all. This seems to be the latest item in wishful thinking.

Eva888: I don't see how vaccinated supermarket staff will stop the virus or any other illness being passed on. The vaccinated can pass on the virus just as easily as unvaccinated people can. It no longer makes any difference, thus the dropping of many restrictions world wide.

You are quite badly misinformed.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/variants/omicron-variant.html February 2022

The Omicron variant spreads more easily than the original virus that causes COVID-19 and the Delta variant. CDC expects that anyone with Omicron infection can spread the virus to others, even if they are vaccinated or don’t have symptoms.

British Medical Journal preprint.
https://www.bmj.com/content/374/bmj.n2074

Adults who have been fully vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 can carry the same viral load of the delta variant as those who are unvaccinated, a preliminary analysis of UK data suggests.1

The latest results from the UK’s national covid-19 infection survey show that having two vaccine doses remains the most effective way to ensure protection against delta. But, although people who are fully vaccinated have a lower risk of becoming infected, those infected with the delta variant can carry similar virus levels as unvaccinated people, the data show. The authors said the implications for transmission were not yet clear but suggested that the potential for fully vaccinated individuals to transmit the virus to others would make achieving herd immunity more of a challenge.

This is OT but those studies don’t say what you claim. If you are vaccinated you are far less likely to be infected and if infected contagious for a significantly reduced time compared to the unvaccinated.

Vaccination dramatically reduces the transmission of Covid.

yep - that working well for almost 3k people a day - think it is safe to say that vaccines help, but it is not a magic bullet and you not going to get it if you are vaccinated is busted

Where has anyone claimed magic bullets in this thread?

I believe the vaccine is absolutely vital in the struggle but it is not a panacea. This is purely anecdotal, my son in London got very sick with Omicron and he is fully vaccinated. His partner who is also fully vaccinated got omicron a week later and she only had what she described as a bad cold for a few days it would appear that the viral load he passed on was a lot smaller, but as I said this is only anecdotal.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Vaccine reduces the chance (not stop) of one getting very sick, dying etc. But according to the link above, does not appear to reduce transmission.

These are tough concepts for people to understand.

If you are vaccinated you can still die but chances are lower. If you are not vaccinated you can still be completely fine. But the chances.

Vaccination, common sense, safety, follow the recommendations, wear a mask.

Totally agree with this, and being vaccinated does not mean you not going to get it, it just means you are less like to die from it / get very sick

How so? Without vaccinations it’d likely be an order of magnitude higher.

Let's be clear. I have not suggested people don't get vaccinated and am fully aware that being vaccinated is protective and limits chances of hospitalisation and dying.

My point to the OP was that the vaccinated can PASS ON the virus just as easily as the unvaccinated can.

It is an insidious virus that is difficult to escape and the very vulnerable can only protect themselves by mask wearing and distancing from everyone plus being vaccinated to lessen the viral load.

is this the 2019 Novel Coronavirus Covid-19 Discussion?

at the end of the day the OP is unlikely to find what they are looking for and will likely have to find alternative measure to ensure they are safe, as suggested by MikeB4.

This thread has gone off the rails .
The OP wanted to MINIMIZE risk as much as he can.

Thats minimize , not 100% eliminate risk.
Try something rather than have deaths in the family .
