Snip is around 550 and 40 for follow up sperm tests , not badly priced I thought but only just started looking at options today

It's interesting that they say on their web site that it's 99% effective, and that it's 100 times more effective than other forms of contraception. I can't quite reconcile those two statements!

And definitely take seriously the advice about contraception after the op.

A friend with 3 daughters figured "I'm sure I'm clear now" a month after the op. Now he has 4 daughters.

Was this due to regrowing/rejoining? ie did they need to re-do the surgery?

I gave sample #4 to a vet friend to check under a microscope and it was clear apart from a single head without a tail.

It's because some of your swimmers can lurk around in the 'downstream' part of the tube for a month or so, and end up getting mixed in with the fluid from your prostate, which is still ejaculated.

My advice was to wait for two consecutive clear tests before assuming I was officially shooting blanks. Basically, you're supposed to keep using your equipment, to 'flush the tubes' as it were.

This was removed from some of the standard policies a few years ago but noticed it applies to Ultracare while I was upgrading, eligible after 1 year on the plan.

Final suggestion, make sure you don't have a hole in your sock, I spent more time worrying about how embarrassing my toe poking through the sock was, than I did about my balls getting shot at with a laser.

I don't want to be a downer, but it may be worth checking whether the laser "snip" can be er unsnipped. I got nonlaser snipped after 2 sprogs, and then following a change of tack, got unsnipped and had another. You never know...

Can't comment on the laser thing, but I had the crochet hook done many years ago. For some reason there was some difficulty with the right-hand side. I still have a bit of discomfort in the right groin area (not the nutsack, but higher up) now and then. Post-op, the advice was to rest up and wear 2 pairs of undies for extra support. The first day was fine, so second day I didn't bother with the 2 undies, and then wished I had.

Do ask for the sheet of paper which says what you can do and when... mine said sex was OK with my wife after IIRC 4 weeks, and with other women after 6 weeks. This didn't sit well with my wife, but I have the doctor's permission, so what can she say? 😉

It was a light hearted comment and I'm not in favour of eugenics. But sometimes, I see someone who behaves very antisocially and I wonder what they're bringing to the gene pool party.

On the subject of reversing the snip, I read a biography of one of the founders of modern microsurgery who was an Australian.

He did leading work on reattachment of fingers limb etc.

One day he was asked by an Australian media type who had upgraded to a newer young model and if he could reverse the snip and so he started researching it. Had an animal monkey model who he had to prove was fertile then snipped and proved infertile then reversed and proved it was reversed.

This took a year or two but when he was confident he could reverse the snip he recontacted the media type to say all good to go. Unfortunately the media type had broken up with the new model and wasn't interested anymore....

But research had proven the reverse so surgeon went off to find another patient who wanted a reversal and booked him into the local (Catholic) hospital for the operation. While church doesn't approved of birth control then surely they wouldn't object to reversal of sterilisation???....

Week prior to operation surgeon at social gathering when local bishop approaches him about the operation and surprisingly said he couldn't do the operation as fertility was gods domain only....

So patient rebooked into different hospital had the operation and in the fullness of time has a child and a photograph was sent to the surgeon as thanks... Jump forward 10 yrs and the office wall is covered in 100s of photographs of babies born as a result of reversal by the surgeon and others he taught.
