Sup:

So we have increased uptake.

Declining cases.

Summer outdoor activity.

Enhanced immunity plus from a third shot.

[...]

The lowest death and hospital rates in the OECD.

A restart of specific sectors of the economy.

And if all else fails we've got the Kopuatai Peat Dome, enough organic mud to treat all of New Zealand.

Regarding Karina Haira Update at bottom. She is out of ICU now.

Sadly the youtube video has been taken down.

nzherald had to give up moderating the Facebook comments on their article covering this:

r/newzealand - The Facebook Boomers have finally done it, they made the social media manager crack.

Beautiful whanau in need
Thank you beautiful people and heres a quick update
  7 December 2021
Karina is doing a lot better.

She is out of ICU and in a ward now. She is still using oxygen to help her breathe but the levels she is using has come right down. She is able to shower 🚿 herself and is making her own bed which is a huge improvement. We are still taking things day by day but she is definitely a fighter.

Her husband is doing well which is a blessing too!

Thank-you to everyone who have shown support, shared her posts, messaged, donated, dropped off food to her home and in every way you have all helped her and uplifted her during this tough time 🙌

She is truly humbled and is blown away by the true kindness of so many people. If you know Karina she is the one donating or raising funds for others. So she is so thankful and quiet lol and thats alot for karina to be quiet 😂😂 sorry my friend couldnt help myself lol

Her beautiful family wish to thank you all for your lovely prayers and well wishes and for being so giving they are sending all their love and blessings to you all too ❤️

Blessings and love to you all and stay safe!!

From her homegirls we love you so much our friend ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Good news. I do not want to be the ever doom and gloom merchant, but I hope people realize when you get this unwell from Covid, the risk is high for the next twelve months of recovery.

She is younger so that is really a strong protective factor for her.

What worries me is that she has gone through extensive lung damage. Really serious assault on the lungs. Supplemental Oxygen to perform the daily activities of a busy Mum are not a very good picture hey.

Hopefully she keeps climbing her way out of this. The worst is over probably.

Hopefully they are able to restore near base line functioning of her lungs.

Batman:

THere's this creature that starts with the letter O ... crossing fingers and toes

3rd vaccine, 4th vaccine, whatever it takes

Just in time for Christmas. Peace of earth good will to men.

I am backing the vaccine, the third shot and the immune system. I am gonna call it now so people can quote me a month from now and say that aged well...not.

Clearly people with crap immune systems are outliers, a vaccine cannot grow you a new one.

But I feel it in my lipid nano particle messenger ribonucleic acid waters....that Covid is going to have a very bad day in the Pfizer sponsored holy land.

Two shot cases will climb, scaring all the little children of the world. Three shot patients will hold steady and say pass me a leg of Turkey.....and no one will realize the booster is the thing....till after the panic subsides, and a bunch of Oldies are saying....Omicron? meh....tis merely a flesh wound for the young folk.

I see I need an explainer. Metaphorical overkill, it happens.

In terms of how the vaccine goes, versus the Omicron variant, the strong message seems to be that a booster shot is still your best defence against the new variant.

This will be tested best in Israel from a New Zealand observers pov, since they are a Pfizer only country. And Israel have good data, and an agreement with Pfizer to provide data on a population scale over time.

Given the Boosters were given to the older folk first, it may skew results somewhat in terms of older people having the best protection, this is assuming their age related immune function and the extra time interval still equate to Robust immunity.

We may see more cases in the younger folk by virtue of more of that demographic being on two shots rather than three.

This would tip the paradigm of Covid being a threat to older people primarily on its head if case numbers are almost entirely a youth two shot only phenomena.

We will see I guess. And all of the noise will land on us around the Christmas day through to New Year period.

There is a poignant  flavor then given the location and the timing...that the Covid data our of Israel, home to the baby Jesus, will land on Christmas day.

I hope this clarifies the lyrical tone of that apparently confusing post.

So this explains now why in multiple interviews in recent weeks that Bloomfield said that Auckland moving to red once we moved to the traffic light system was not set in stone like the PM kept saying it was.

Health advice to the govt was for Auckland to be in orange and for the border to go at the same time as we moved to the traffic light framework https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/covid-19-delta-outbreak-revealed-the-public-health-advice-to-have-auckland-unshackled-by-now-and-why-jacinda-ardern-rejected-it/JEGM2JZOSTDJIZXL3UXKMYPJ4A/

But there are no Covid related capacity issues in our hospitals right now.

That in itself is part of the problem with the new framework - it's already out of date because we're ignoring the exact criteria that has been set to determine alert levels.

Like I get 'give the regions a chance to catch up' but they had literally months.

Auckland has been done dirty here, I think they've really misread the room in terms of the toll the ongoing and extended lockdowns and borders have taken on people.

To hear it wasn't even part of the official health advice from the DG is so deflating.

The next stage that we will see how it pans out. How the freedom impacts cases as more people mix.

This does immense damage to credibility, especially in the eyes of us Aucklanders who have been and are still suffering as mentioned by @GV27

That we are having our liberty to travel removed for an additional period, and this is not on Health advice, makes any future decisions on Covid handling suspect.

I'm just infuriated because the whole thing was 'evidence-based' until it suddenly wasn't and everyone else got to get on with their lives.
