Not to downplay the risks but in Auckland I suspect we won't be too worried considering we have been used to red and lockdowns.

I suspect going to red will shock those mainly outside of Waikato, Auckland and Northland.

personally i cant tell the difference between orange and red

Short of no more inter mixing at locations other than supermarkets. There isn't really one.

You are open. You are all jabbed. Or you are un only.

And funerals can do 2 sessions for same family. But cannot mix
Some places like hairdresser must go pass only. And others are expected to enforce checking. Unlike how it has slacked off considerably

But it's still in everyone's head they are going to be forced home from previous experience. So stupidity takes over.

It would be good if "Pass only" meant check the pass and verify identity. Block at the door.

Unlike a cafe I've been lately that take your takeway order, start the EFTPOS and while you are fumbling to pay they ask "Can I see your pass?"

It might be the concerning uptick of delta coming back to Auckland as people return from holiday, but suppose not.

The pass thing, yes Destiny Church person with vaccine pass despite public statement they have not and would never get vaccinated.

Here's hoping, its a pity we could not get further vaccinating children.
Being in the capital of New Zealand for diabetic problems,
but hopefully rest of their family double and triple vaxed slows things down.

Mention of a children's holiday event in the LOIs recently did have me a bit concerned, as that links many families.

Risk for Newly Diagnosed Diabetes >30 Days After SARS-CoV-2 Infection Among Persons Aged <18 Years
https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/71/wr/mm7102e2.htm

Vaccination has given us the chance to be more open in the face of delta.
Low population density also helps space out transfer, not much consolation for us in the supercity.

Rural NZ having an inherent advantage this time of fewer contacts even if a more raw deal on medical facilites.
Of course horticulture not so blessed as we are getting to a time where picking gangs are busy.

Taiwan has battled its omicron breach for a week or more, probably airport cleaners, but hit by a second a cargo ship.
Then you add a contact not scanning in, and other deliberate exceptional behavior seems to have killed their chances.
Then into migrant workers living in dormitory.

If we can slow transfer to below Aussie levels then that's a win I suppose, but they were more vaccinated, but higher density.

Guarantee to wind up the 'waaa but vaccinated pass it on just as much too it makes no sense' crowd

Other than the sense it was built to combat alpha. Not the jab evading version of it 2 major mutations later thanks to low uptake and continued transfer between hosts. But you go ahead and ignore that

Geektastic: Just. Shut. The. Border.

That way we can all get on with normal life whilst the scientists develop a vaccine that is even better.

The way the border is now appears to place 5+ million at significant risk merely for the benefit of a very few.

You can't do that for all the people who have an MIQ spot already booked. Many would have gone abroad on the clear understanding that there was a place for them when they returned unlike the travel bubble with Aus when it was traveller beware.

The site says "You can meet friends and whānau inside and outside, go shopping, access healthcare, attend school and travel. Being vaccinated will give you greater protection."

So how exactly will red light protect more? Vaccines need boosters in arms.

Right. A 100+ people wedding in Auckland. So going down levels was great for mental health but helped spread more?
