that's really good news for the world, if no crazy strains come out of the population live vaccination drive, that's a win for everyone, for China, for us, for the world

Im no Covid expert, but if it battles against natural immunity and vaccines, it will surely struggle to create a new and virulent strain

Handful of people in my teams have caught it in the last 6 months - maybe 25% at a guess. Subjectively the case rate among colleagues feels a little up, but the reporting shows the 3rd wave dropping away:

The ESR wastewater page is always about a week behind. It shows wastewater positives dropping away faster than positive tests which seems counterintuitive. XBB variant still not prevalent.

As per RadioNZ, the new bivariant Covid 19 vaccine will be available as a booster from
1st April to those over the age of 30 and who haven’t had Covid or a booster in the previous 6 months.

except that they may or may not do what you think they do

i'm still counting on my live vaccine dose last year (that would be my 4th vax technically) to supercede these boosters

I would not be casting doubt on this or making medical decisions about my own welfare unless I was an expert in the field. Are you?

As an elderly vulnerable person I will be getting the new vaccine as soon as it becomes available.

Finally. I had COVID last March and it took a month to recover. But I am not eligible for the 2nd booster as I'm healthy and <50 years old, so from April 1st I finally can get the 2nd booster.

Has taken too long IMO.

nope. this doctor says if your immune system is not at its prime take the booster

if it's pretty good and you've had recent covid then maybe you don't need the booster

I had my first and second vaccines in late 2021, and my booster in early 2022 - then caught coronavirus in August 2022.

As I'm over 30, I think it would be wise for me to get the booster, certainly can't hurt.

My experience is similar. I've had three doses of the vaccine and have avoided covid-19 up until this week despite having had multiple exposure events and a lot of time in high risk environments. Unfortunately over the weekend I was at a wedding which turned out to be a super-spreader and I have subsequently tested positive but yesterday was the only day when I felt quite unwell, otherwise the symptoms have been mild.

The government had plenty of missteps around the covid response, but they really deserve credit for getting everyone access to the RNA subunit vaccine. It has undoubtedly prevented a lot of misery.

I am assuming that I will be able to get the bivalent booster in August, which will be six months from the infection that I currently have.

The washed-up former newsreader turned top conspiracy theorist might finally get some comeuppance!

From: https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/300816496/conspiracy-theorist-liz-gunn-reportedly-arrested-and-charged

Liz Gunn was approached for comment but could not be reached by phone or text. - isn't this ironic, normally she can't help herself from opening her big lying mouth! Yet when she's caught out she goes to ground.

I suspect she was at the airport trying to film this antivaxx couple/family/whatever who were arriving from overseas and probably didn't have the right permit to film at the airport (do you need one? I have no idea). Airport security staff would have noticed and called the police. Her cameraman or her probably got aggressive (all in the name of "freedom", no doubt) and it lead to an assault.

I hope they throw the book at her.

I always get a laugh when the Friday F^&kwits in Palmy hang around with their conspiracy signs .

One even touted "Dr John Campbell" , who's you tube claims have been roundly debunked as bad science. So long as you ignore 283 out of 288 cases then his claims are barely reasonable.
