I felt like crap this morning, as did one of my boys. Did a test but we're both negative, so probably just a cold/flu. Still, had me going for a second. Can never be too careful.

No, and they don't even want to find out anymore - there will be a fair whack that have had minimal to nil symptoms, and the only way to tell would have been blood testing,,,

4 cases in mum's neighbourhood within her rest home last week.
Increasing number of friends and colleagues who are now on their 5th infection. This really isn't going away any time soon.

Some people seem to be strangely resistant to it. Over many months I had numerous close contact situations as well as taking the bus to work every day, and I never got it. In the end the only thing that caused me to contract it was a wedding at which I unknowingly had a long interaction with an infected person and we were shouting at close proximity due to background noise. If that interaction had been in a more normal environment then I suspect I wouldn't have picked it up.
My theory is that there is a lot of random variability in the effectiveness of the vaccines across different individuals.
I've been in many close contact suitations include major events in the US and Indonesia. Still never had a positive test, and even when I've had serious symptoms even PCR tests have come back negative.

I only got a positive on what was probably my 4th go round, and that was by far the worst one. The others do not count because of no positive test. First was just before first lockdown when they wouldnt give you one unless you could prove you were a close contact and the 4th go was worse than that.

Does it really make any difference to anyone anymore?
If you’ve had it and you don’t know you’ve had it you are one of the people who won’t get it. Either way it doesn’t matter.

how many have had means nothing these days. i would say pretty much every one.
if you have had it but didn't notice, in no way does that mean you won't get it. plenty of people how had zero or mild symptoms first time around, got wacked hard with it the 2nd time.

its never going away. its more of a question of what it evolves into.

It'll become an endemic seasonal coronavirus like N229 and OC43. Coronaviruses don't mutate at the same rate at influenza, so its evolution should slow down as we exit the pandemic phase.
I imagine next year, the Flu jab will have a covid jab in it.
My wife was in a clinical trial this year with a combined jab (Novavax).

fortunately so, however how well it can spread dictates how well it can evolve as well. what makes this interesting is how well its going in high density populations.
