My mum had long covid. She got really ill when catching it the first time but she is quite old.
Touch wood...Neither I nor the wife has had Covid, which is kind of amazing since she is a practice manager for some GPs.
Our adult kids have had it, Son+wife+grand daughter currently have it.
Long may this last.

The Institute of Unfinished Research has concluded that 6 out of 10 people
Unless there is true discrimination against a group of people, companies' policies should be take-it-or-leave-it deal.

Reckon eh. This court case was yet another instance of "what about me" cooker bs 🙄
I mean, really.... the Fact they she thought this was OK just staggers me,
Given how most schools/education providers are so stick in the mud about Health and Safety consents and anything else to do with medical stuff..
"A former Taranaki primary school principal has been struck off after collecting children’s private medical information and passing it to a lawyer to support a High Court challenge to Covid-19 vaccine mandates.
Kathryn Pick was principal of Eltham Primary School when she obtained students’ vaccination and infection status, Covid test results, names and dates of birth from families in December 2021.
The Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal found Pick then supplied the information to a lawyer acting for New Zealand Teachers Speaking Out with Science (NZTSOS), an anti-mandate group she belonged to, for use in litigation against the Government’s vaccine mandates."

That's not how discovery works.
But reality is that they will go to any lengths, even break the law, to complain about something they don't understand.

New Zealand Teachers Speaking Out with Science (NZTSOS)
I don't know why these clowns use names like this (ditto NZDSOS or whatever those morons call themselves) - they're not speaking out with science, they're speaking out against science ðŸ˜

I remember hearing of the lab leak theory and dismissing it as there was information tying (or trying to tie it) to other animals but I never really looked into further reasoning behind the lab leak theory. I knew there was a virology lab close to the wet market. Much later found out it did gain of function research. And even later there was murmurings of Fauci having some part in funding it. But the more recent hearing with Fauci's "plead the 5th" answers and some other investigations and information coming to light I'm more onside with the lab leak theory origin now. I know I'll never personally know but I wish I'd kept a more open mind and looked at the reasoning behind it. Apparently that info ended up being suppressed on social media early on? It wouldn't have changed the outcome for the world as covid was well underway. I am disappointed in Fauci especially as he seemed to be aware of the wet markets being a multiplier venue as noted from his emails. Mind you there were other American voices I had switched over to for more practical information that made sense. They were further ahead in their return to normal/living with the virus and NZ still had a major transition to undergo - basically getting through it's first wave.
A British-American journalist interviews two American scientists who are experts on different aspects of Covid 19 to discuss the lab leak theory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3W4pJJ3SVis
The video is actually not all that science heavy, which is unsurprising given the expected audience.
A few years back I heard a podcast episode in which a couple of research scientists with deep expertise on SARS-CoV opined on the lab leak possibility. As I recall, one of them was an Australian who has done research fieldwork in southern China. Really knew their stuff. They both came down firmly on the idea that the virus has natural origins.
gzt: I tend to see Fauci's use of 'take the 5th' as the obvious response to Trump and the Trumpworld's clear desire to see Fauci prosecuted for any random thing. Trump claims Biden's pardon of Fauci is "very powerful" when in fact it has real limitations.
Absolutely, the truth. Taking the 5th is not in any way acknowledging wrongdoing. It can be a self-preservation move, to avoid giving a clearly biased panel any information that can be used against him.
