gchiu: Yeah. We need open government. We need to know who is driving the advice being followed by govt, and the data they are using to drive this advice.

So far western nations have fared poorly in this war against a fast moving stealthy enemy.

You may feel you do but to be honest with social media sharing every decision making criteria just encourages the idiots to "interpret" the data.

I think you've made your position very clear, is there any value in continuing to make the same.points over and over.

You're not the only one and this isn't meant as having a crack at you personally.

You underestimate the wisdom of the crowd.

TV3 and TV1 have their morning news show presenters sitting far too close together.   TV3 guys seated just over 1 metre apart.  TV1 John Campbell & team seated so close together their laptop lids are nearly touching!   I'd estimate  40 to 50 cm at most!   Have they not heard of the 2 metre apart idea?   This is something they could implement very easily with a wide angle camera view & would help educate the public.

Parliament seating is being re-jigged right now, so time for the TV guys to wake up!   2 metres!

I know I was watching Breakfast ....so maddening!

Meanwhile in Canada ---They get it!!!

Are you using this design? https://copper3d.com/hackthepandemic/

PS: pla does not mean people's liberation army

Nope, I'm using FFP-2 (when really indicated). There is too much waste of masks due to misinformation.

The muppets having corona parties and buying 300 rolls of toilet paper? No I think I've got a reasonable expectation of their wisdom.

The only way this can be dealt with is by following the guidance of a countries leadership and the population doing what it's told. They will definitely get things wrong but it doesn't get stopped with 100 different points of view.

Yes. If the ONLY measure that happened was people did the right thing, then 95% of the task is covered. The extreme measures being taken arent to stop the virus its to control the people not playing ball. Only the masses can stop the virus

Those muppets are the exception, the outliers.  They are not the crowd.

The crowd is also the collective wisdom of govts worldwide; we can see which ones have succeeded and which have not.

The two cases where community transmission has not been ruled out. Im wondering how long until a determination is made there. The interval so far seems long enough for contact tracing to complete.

Anyone know what the definition is for CT official?

Problem is there is no known travel link. So they probbaly have heaps to check. AFAIK Local Transmission is when a case is linked to a traveller, so not CT. CT is when there is no known link to a traveller. Which means its spread in the community, past what will have been a traveller. Say I travel, get infected, dont know you, but I give it to you at a supermarket. It will never trace to me

deport him to Vanuatu (confirming he does not have the virus) and lock him up in the central prison in the container cell.

I'd donate $100 for the above.

The WHO does not use the term 'community transmission'.

Everything is classified as either local transmission or imported.

We are in the same classification as Italy, UK etc.

I've not yet heard anyone ask Bloomfield about this.

Is local or community just semantics?

That's horrifying. I was starting to think that with everyone with a modicum of social conscience self-isolating or even just maintaining distance, we could get through this with a low impact by world standards, but stories like this make me despair.
