@SheriffNZ:
Good thread here - https://twitter.com/andrewtychen/status/1462917008891146253?s=21
A lot easier to read in a single page here.

"Tomorrow we will also launch the verifier app for businesses who require proof of vaccine pass for entry and to operate. While businesses will not be mandated to use the verifier, it is a very handy tool."
I understand that the tool exists and businesses may use it or not. You can use any other tool. Businesses are still required to have proof of vaccine pass to allow people to enter premises.
This article calls out the clash between comments made by the PM and Minister for Covid-19 response, and what is on the covid-19 website.
"Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Covid-19 Minister Chris Hipkins both say venues requiring Covid-19 vaccine passes will be able to check them visually instead of using an official app if they wish to.
But the Ministry of Health’s website for the verifier app disagreed, saying vaccine passes would need to be scanned to “allow entry”."
This is a right mess. I'm concerned that if you share a pass with someone there are no other checks. I would of thought the ID of the person and the pass would be a minimum but apparently not.
Without verification of the pass to photo ID, Unvaccinated will just have other peoples passes on hand ready to go especially for large events.
Quick question and it may have already been answered earlier in this megathread (but I can't find anything about it)
It is my understanding that your pass lasts 6 months from the date of issue
I also believe that it is a possibility to re-request the pass.
Has anyone tried to re-request their pass a couple of days later to see if it still has the original expiry date?
Just interested, as the 6 month from date of issue didnt really make sense to me.
My rationale being, that if it's to do with boosters, all the most vulnerable people will have a valid pass despite potentially needing a booster

It's a total shambles now with the PM saying there is no requirement to scan codes yet the MoH saying you do.

shrub:I absolutely expected to see a drivers license picture of me when I scanned my own pass. Would picture IDs on the vaccine pass be too hard to sell to the tin foil hat paranoid brigade? Heck, whey didn't they do the Bill Gates nanobot thing for real in the vaccine so you wouldn't need a certificate? They could just scan people to see if their glow in the dark is the right wavelength.

May have already been answered but at this stage the pass only last 6 months

Doesn't the scanner work offline? If so, then it wouldn't be able to download the image. Guessing it would also use a lot of server resources and data at the server end with millions of scans and downloads a day.
I have found the scanner doesn't work with the QR code on an apple watch. Not sure why, but it is a high res QR code, and it is quite small.
I have had no problem scanning the QR code on my Apple watch - just as quick and straight forward as scanning the code on another iPhone.

The pass expires six month from issue date. I had a pass issued during the beta, then requested a new one (the Google Pay integration wasn't available during beta). The second pass had a new expiry date.

Oblivian: Given we have not seen anything of the new legislation or bill draft yet. One would hope the comments are not in direct correlation to the wording drafted
I can see interpretation of 'To use the MoH verify app' being left open to allow development of own readers being focused so hard on the use of it. Only for someone after it's actually been submitted to pipe up going 'errrr, that also excludes using it AT ALL' /scramble/
Funny enough Q+A weekend show had a member saying it's not done. It's going to be rushed this week. And likely full of holes.
Ruh-roh.
Use of the scanner isn't mandatory every visit at a venue / business that is operating under the vaccine pass system. Many are storing this data in other ways such as gyms requiring you to validate yourself online and your tag will only allow you to enter if you've done this online and been vaxxed.
I'm very interested to see how sports events handle it, and one example being Parkrun that I do most weeks (which hasn't been allowed to operate under L2). Scanning 200+ codes each week before people are allowed to run and ensuring nobody who hasn't been scanned can run is just a logistical nightmare. Sure you could get people to validate themselves online but then wouldn't know somebody wasn't vaxxed until the end of the event.

Your questions really do open a whole can of worms..
As somebody who had my 2nd jab at the start of June my 6 months is up next week, and I consider myself at risk after everything I've read. I plan to pop along on Monday (which is 6 days before the 6 months is up) and try and get my jab so I'm fully protected again before all the Aucklanders bring Covid to Wellington in mid Dec. 😂
I'm back up in Auckland again for a night later this week and will be extra cautious while I'm there.
The data around boosters is now not even open for debate. They work really really really well and provide a massive boost to the immune system and at some point are going to have to be made mandatory to be considered fully vaccinated. On the other hand however the govt right now doesn't want to scare people into believing vaccines are useless because they only last for 6 months blah blah blah.
