Brussel Sprouts are diabolical. Even drowned in cheese sauce they are horrible. If I had the money I'd happily pay a scientist to develop a pestilence to wipe them off the face of the planet.

Interesting. I'd be inclined to agree, if the only way you have had them is boiled to within an inch of their lives, which makes them mushy and sulfry, but cooked till they are tender but still bright green, I can't agree.

The number of people who have never had them the second way are one of the primary reasons I think people don't like them.

I often boil them throw them with some butter, toasted almonds and bacon/pancetta.

I find a similar thing when people don't like fish. So many people have only had fishy smelling and tasting fish, whereas that's not how I eat my fish. I prefer it fresh!

Apparently fish caught anywhere nowadays are so prone to parasites that they are recommended to be frozen before consumption to kill the parasite eggs.

Anybody knows? I've been very ill this year and i eat a lot of salmon sushi. Have stopped for a few months now!

Define 'a lot'. 8pc every meal, every weekday might do you in. Also depends how your shop preps the fish, yes they should be frozen to kill the bugs (and they do, at least all the authentic JP/KR sushi places).

As with all raw meals the more you eat the more risk there is, just avoid day old, in the shop window pieces and you shouldn't catch anything.

Lol a lot means like umm ... at least once or twice every week, sometimes more.

Though I must say it is going off topic. I only replied because networkn says he only eats fresh fish and I was informed fish needs (recommended) to be first frozen.

Mind you, fresh fish tastes amazing. I luuuuuuv freshly caught fish, straight out of the water. Would eat it every meal if I could. But the parasites, not very amazing.

Depends what you cook.  Broccoli stirfried in a small amount of oil with some garlic and deglazed with rice wine and then dash of soy - healthy.

Pork belly fried with lots of peanut oil then smoothered in a sweet salty sauce - not so healthy.

Fried wonton - you know the answer.

MSG isn't that bad by itself, but it's full of sodium, so combined with salt it makes Chinese food quite high in sodium.

Beware of monosodium glutamate (what was mentioned earlier as the fifth taste "umami") and guess why it's available in 10L buckets.

Is MSG any worse than caffeine or alcohol?

When you take an Asian kid, bring them up on a western diet, they are usually bigger than their parents.

I'm taller than my mum. My granddaughter is taller than hers.

Granddaughters mum grew up on takeaways, GD has a good diet.

Asian kids were generally small because of the minimal meat they ate.

Asian food in general is healthy - how can it not be? You have a mix of foods, rice, noodles, veges (lots of veges) and meat.

Which is how we should eat....a variety of foods, none of this eliminate entire food groups nonsense.

Plus they didn't generally, back when, eat much processed food or sugary lollies either.

It also depends on what area.

Norhern Chinese are generally taller than southern Chinese.

Then there's Koreans who are really tall

Wow, I feel quite sad for you. Corn is amazing, as are Brussel Sprouts, freshly dug carrots, and potatoes (though I greatly prefer mine with butter admittedly).

I very much enjoy many vegetables and despite the looks of disbelief of my family, I'd rather sit down to a plate of salad than apple pie at half time during the game.

My Son (honestly) prefers Brocolli to icecream.

I get the lack of interest in veges.

I eat a lot of veges but I don't really like them.  Sure they can taste nice, but I've never found myself looking forward to eating vegetables.  By comparison I always look forward to eating meat, poultry and seafood.
