From what I can gather. This is pre-framework. Where the normal certificates will come into play. This is the period where the corrections and teaching staff have been given an ultimatum. And these guys are jumping on that to be a 'service' to them before the timer is up - the 15th.

Form the PPTA

A small number of people may not be able to be vaccinated for medical reasons and you will need to provide the employer with evidence of this from a registered medical specialist.

If there is a registered specialist willing to risk it - it's currently legit and all that is needed

Rush said establishing if staff were vaccinated was straightforward, but some people were presenting spurious exemption letters.

"We're seeing quite a number of medical exemptions and in some instances being provided by osteopaths, homeopaths, some doctors that are publicly seen to be anti-vax, we've had physiotherapists and in one instance a midwife issue vaccine exemption certificates," he said.

Indeed. Though it does seem to point to the rise of these pages and events as suddenly making the need to have a verification method that wasn't yet thought of huh.

Which would be kind of silly. But with 12 days to go, it does sound like it's not there yet.

Firstly should note that the exemption process will (in addition to those where the vaccine is not medically advised) need to cover deferrals.

- I understand some medical treatments that mess with the immune system have windows which are the optimal times to administer vaccines, ans some people will need to wait for the next window if they want the vaccine work.

I do feel for those that genuinely need exemptions for work. They are current stuck in a no mans land, where the GP's are waiting for the announcement on Monday, but the mandate for corrections workers kicks in on Saturday.

The system is not even great for those that think they will need an exemption, but they can actually have the vaccine (perhaps with additional observation etc).

Framework for vaccination exemptions for the vaccine certificate system are to be announced on or prior to monday. It is likely that vaccine exemptions with a date prior to that won't have any value for that purpose.

I imagine the people seeking exemptions now are the likes of Corrections workers, Education workers, Health workers which all are mandated to be vaccinated with their first dose on either the 6th or 15th of this month if they want to keep working. Legislation I linked in the below post allows for exemptions issued by appropriately qualified health professionals:

Note:

Some people will not be exempt, but will need to defer as per the top of this post.
Aussie has 3 vaccine options. So, as an example, somebody with a polyethylene glycol allergy (meaning they can't have pfizer / Moderna) can just get AZ.

Plenty of small employers in that list.

Also company policy doesn't trump legislation, which as it stands is:

"(2) An affected person may carry out certain work without being vaccinated if—
(a) the affected person has particular physical or other needs that a suitably qualified health practitioner (in the course of examining the person) determines would make it inappropriate for the person to be vaccinated; and
(b) in any case where the affected person belongs to the group specified in Part 6 of the table in Schedule 2, the relevant PCBU who employs or engages the affected person has provided the register with written confirmation that a suitably qualified health practitioner—
(i) has examined the affected person; and
(ii) has determined that vaccinating the affected person would be inappropriate.
(3) If the affected person is a health practitioner, the examination referred to in subclause (2) must be undertaken by another health practitioner who is suitably qualified to conduct the examination."

Must be a pretty award when a employee turns up with an exemption from the likes of a chiropractor. - many employers won't be in a position to determine what an appropriately qualified health practitioner is.

That said, some companies will be requiring vaccination as a result of a risk assessment (not the government mandate). - In this case it could be that an exemption in theory shouldn't cut it. - As an example it would be poor risk management to allow high risk role in a sewage plant to be undertaken by a person medically unable to have a Hep A or tetanus vaccine.

It is rather idiotic that buying Alcohol, going to Licensed Premises.

Has more relaxation of privacy, requiring a link of Photo ID and Age,
in case of Drivers license a whole bunch of other information.

For the largest and one of the most deadly pandemics in generations ?
Its an Gordian knot of privacy that means we can't easily create or verify genuine status.

Preventing an easy and speedy identification of falsified documents, to provide dissuasion for same.
There will always be some who try it on, news of people being caught is what slows them down.

Stiff penalties for those presenting false documents, those accepting them, and more severe for those creating/selling them.

Delays in untying this Gordian Knot just opens the door for idiots, and delays rewards for everyone else.

There's a simple solution for the vast majority of these people: Get vaccinated!

No doubt that just like gluten intolerance and a whole host of food allergies, the number of actual medically verifiable cases will be a tiny fraction of the total claimed by "suffers".

Just went for a drive by because I'm nosey.

Maybe 20-odd cars in the car park?

Person in high-vis was standing by the closed door with few people standing around. But best of all, a Police car was there too.

Just as I was typing this too, got a message from the Newbury Hall managers to say the hall was booked for a health and safety seminar, and that they have cancelled this booking after finding out want it was.

That can quite easily be covered by Government/MBIE guidance. It doesn't necessarily need writing into fresh legislation.

Much like the Building Act just states that all buildings should be habitable and won't collapse. The actual Building Code that tells you how to demonstrate compliance with this legal requirement is just a collection of guidance documents.

I think we can all agree that a chiropractor or homeopathic "doctor" wouldn't cut it. 😀

Personally, I'd only let your standard GP triage potential exemption candidates for further consideration by someone on an approved list of verifying specialists.

I tend to agree, but an actual genuine vaccine exemption case would be a bit tricky.

Anyone who has ever filled out a risk assessment matrix will know that if the consequence is potential DEATH or long term debilitation (i.e. Long COVID) then you've pretty much got no choice but to mitigate that risk. It's not hard to argue if you've got a bunch of employees in a particular workplace that it's a reasonable mitigation to isolate any unvaccinated staff from the rest.
