I've got an absolute bizarre dilemma. a person I care about the most, is using fake (someone else) covid-pass to go around (I found out first hand on the weekend, have not seen each other for a while, long story), anti-vaxxed, but at least not vocal :(

Wow. Discovering such a thing no doubt makes you re-evaluate your dedication.

If I learned such a thing about a good friend I'd want to know their motivation - any information you can share about your friend's case?

That's a hard one - I don't agree with what they are doing, but like many of us, if we care about someone, we'll have a tendency to let stuff slide - but that is a really irresponsible thing to do (using another person's vaccine cert).

I'm a firm believer that it's someone's right to choose what they want to do with their own body, but they absolutely MUST suffer the consequences of those actions. So if you choose to be unvaccinated for whatever reason and you don't have a legitimate medical exemption, you miss out on a lot of life. That's just the way it is.

Don't what I would advise you to do, if anything, as it could end a relationship.

If an on-to-it business scans their pass, can your friend produce photo ID to back it up?  I suspect not.  They will likely get most places with the pass, but not everywhere.

When entering Rainbow's End last week, they nearly didn't let me in without photo ID.  A passing supervisor approved my entry based on the name on my credit card.  I could have walked 3-4 minutes back to the car to get my license.

One of our daughters best friends is from an AV family.

We felt uneasy about her staying over during the school holidays but didn't think we should punish her, by refusing to have her over, because of the actions of her parents.

But we found out yesterday she is working at a local chip shop and that's made us think again.
[E] I know take away staff don't need to be vaccinated, but she's seeing an awful lot of people in a smallish space in a short period of time.

Many kitchen staff aren't wearing masks.  I was at a nice pub for lunch over the weekend and noted none of the order taking or kitchen staff wearing masks, and a visit to a fish and chip shop over the holidays revealed a team of three taking orders and cooking with masks around their chins.  I can only imagine the joy of trying to wear a mask in that sort of environment.

This is definately worth a conversation, IMHO, but a very delicate one because it's not the kid's fault as you say.

I'm curious as to whether the friend is in line with her parents beliefs or is just going along with it.  They could possibly make the call to go and get jabbed themselves quietly if they felt strongly about protecting themselves.

Do you also know the person who's pass they are using? I'd be more concerned about their motivation for "helping" an unvaccinated person to circumvent the rules.

Person I care about, is well intelligent, sportish, educated, and very social but yet does such thing and laughs, sort of prouds about it :(

Well lots of foodies sure changed signage to make it look like its hard for anyone without a pass. But not like they're following through with checks

Local maccas has a please present at counter or if asked

Kfc I just went to had big signage at the door. But didn't actually ask to sight it like it suggests

So red is fairly orange :p

I've visited MCD maybe twice since we had the passes and both times a lady with an iPad scanned us.  I could see how people could be possibly missed.  Sometimes she'd stop scanning then go and do something else like empty bins etc.

The traffic light system under red has significant consequences for many businesses. No wage subsidy yet the business could be crippled operationally with a lot of staff in isolation and still having to pay staff on sick leave with no income coming in, or have their customer base severely eroded and significantly reduced income.

For some businesses a lockdown might have been better.

Do you mean not convinced we won't get to a lockdown? You could be right but I think unlikely.

One of my motos is "never say never" however any lockdown will be a huge backdown by J A and Co. Also part of me suspects the government, after throwing money around with gay abandon, has realised there is a day of reckoning and is starting to rein in expenditure. Lockdowns create potentially greater expenditure with the associate wage subsidies etc.

martyyn: One of our daughters best friends is from an AV family.

Said friend turned up at school today unvaccinated and unmasked because her Osteopath father has given her an exception certificate.

Friend freely admits she has no medical grounds.

None of the kids in their social group are happy about it.
