Eva888: All these answers are great for the tech savvy but many elderly don’t have mobiles, email, children or young friends to help them and they are stressed about this. Many may also have English as a second language or hard of hearing. Suddenly they can’t go for a cup of tea with another oldie. They have been using their vax card up till now. Why can’t they let this generation of the vaxxed over 70s continue to use their card as proof. They are hardly going to be the ones hanging out at music festivals or pubs. They’ve had their vaxx and are now being penalised.
Go to a local chemist that does vaccinations and they will sort it out and arrange a copy for you,

In short because the cardboard cards weren't intended to, and don't contain sufficient anti counter-fitting precautions to act as proof. Templates for them are available in antivaxx places online.
Also:
As others have mentioned, Vaccine passes are available at 400 vaccinating pharmacies, and there is a phone number you can call to have one mailed out to you.
I consider that an acceptable level of accessibility.
not sure if it is sad or funny but i asked my 25 year old son if he had his vaccine certificate yet . His answer was "whats that". he now has it if he ever goes outside to use it.
Common sense is not as common as you think.
Went to my local barber today. QR scanned in then he scanned my vaccine passport, it was my first.
He said that the NZ Indian population was 99% fully vaccinated and was the highest ethnic percentage.
Well done.
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.
DonH:My wife's phone behaves the same way, I'd also done laminated cards and cropped PDFs for the rest of the family but it's still frustrating going round in circles in the exact manner you've described.
... It's my wife's pass and phone, I'll try adding the pass to my phone (in addition to mine, which applied OK) and apply my pass to her phone.
... Nope, trying to apply my pass fails the same way.
I've had to email mine to my gym and tennis club so it's recorded against my membership and had to show it physically for the first time yesterday. Was in the mall and it's not required to walk through the mall or in most of the shops. Went into the chocolate shop and we spent about 5 or so minutes looking at the gift box sets before the teenage staff member came over and asked to scan ours (it's also a cafe). Not sure what she is going to do if someone gets aggressive or argues over it. Almost like you need to employ a bouncer type on the door who is used to checking ID and dealing with people arguing.
I am not happy at the number of places that didn't ask for it including my Barber. I showed it, and they scanned it, but I was the only one in the time I was there.
Most places throw a passing glance at it if offered, but no chance they are reading it properly as I accidentally showed my Sons one at one place and they had no idea.
It's the same as scanning.
They are meant to ensure everyone does. But put the sign on the window and let everyone make up their own decision. There are few places taking it seriously other than those realising they are at risk of a $15K fine if audited (but what are those chances..). Even in the case of the roving cleaner here at local Maccas stopping you as you try to enter to check it sans verifier. It could say Micky Mouse and have a Geo-cache QR and he would be none the wiser.
It's looking more and more like a failed honesty box system meant to bring up the numbers. And now its implemented coming to light.
At least there are a few people around here asking for help setting them up and printing hard copies. Even if they aren't really needed
requested a vaccine pass this morning and it expires on Jun 1st 2022. So not a full 6 months, looks like they have put in a cut off date
JPNZ:
Just got mine, I don't understand how people find it so hard? Get the email, has a box for add to Apple Wallet or Google Pay, click > done.
Double tap button on iPhone, cert is there with my Credit card. Printed a copy for my phone case. Simple. Perhaps being an apple user just makes it easier....
What expiry date did you get?

Mines 17 November 2021 to 17 May 2022
Will be interesting if all the later ones are cut off on 1 June 2022.
