I have found that my certificate won't survive a restart of my S10+. Added to wallet via the email link, and then added to homepage.

Restart the phone, and it will be on the home screen while the phone goes through the remainder of it's startup, then the shortcut will vanish.

Repeatable, I have tried this several times in a row - add, restart, watch it vanish. Very frustrating.

Phone has both fingerprint and pin code, not rooted. I have no other cards loaded into GPay.

Are you sure it is not the Home app? Have you tried using a different home app just to see if the same happens again?

Home App? Sorry, I'm a bit lost at that.

The homescreen is just an app called "launcher".

You can use other apps to replace that. For example, you could test with Microsoft Launcher.

How many people are finding venues or operators actually checking your ID as well as Vacc passport?

Going by the bloke on tv last night (the project) being interviewed who owned a couple of bars. He likened the passport as 'the same thing as ID'

AKA, I expect they've simply changed to using the QR to check for the DOB and not actual ID....

And then something along the lines of if they don't have one making sure THEY scan a QR code.

Ill find the interview

I've had the same kind of problem on my Nokia 6.1

The way round it is to

  • open GPay,
  • tap the "My Vaccine Pass",
  • input your PIN / fingerprint,
  • when the vaccine pass opens
  • tap the 'three dots' menu top right
  • tap "Save to home"; and
  • save it again on your home screen

😒

Ahhh right, so no cross checking of photo ID then? Thus allowing unvaxxed to use someone elses pass or a copy of someone elses pass?

Hmmm. I've been doing right up to "tap save to home" - when I try doing it a second time, I get a second copy on the home screen.

Seems it depends on the bouncer and or queue length. Long wait, let everyone in. Short wait. Do full checks.

Per a few articles, there has been a heap of fraud or fake use caught by some bars. 'unreadable' QRs on paper so they cant be checked by a scanner but plead they are theirs - which falls back on the 'you only need to sight it' lack of verify legislation. (I recall saying a while back if you have a phone in your hand and in line, and you pull out paper that would be sus...)

The onus is on the establishment to verify. And if audited and found to not be verified. 15K fine. Now when we see the first case made of that happen things might change. But until then....

I had a snack & coffee at a local cafe a couple of hours ago.  First time since red.  Sat outside but most people were inside (well spaced and well ventilated).

But ... no vetting of entry into the cafe (in Orewa, Auckland), and the person on the till never asked to see my pass.  When I held it up anyway, she very briefly glanced and said 'OK'.  When asked if they didn't need to scan it, she replied 'No, just need to sight it"!

After finishing my coffee, I went back in and picked up a couple of extra items to take home.  Different person serving.  No mention of vaccine pass.

Perhaps I should have walked out first time around but the food at most alternatives is a notch down on this place.  And there was good outside seating ~2 m clear of the only other group in that area.

No problems so far on my S8 (touch wood!).  Been on my home screen since about 2 days after the passes became available.  Phone has restarted a couple of times (flat battery) without loosing the link to the pass in Gpay.

Standard S8 Android setup home screen-wise.  Zero issues getting the pass into Gpay from the link in the email, nor any putting the link onto my home screen.

I got asked for my Vaccine Pass yesterday. I opened my digital wallet and showed my Covid Pass QR code. It was just viewed not scanned. They had no idea what they were looking at. It could have been a QR code for anything but my Covid Pass, they wouldn't know by looking at it.

It seems that some places are very uneducated about what they need to be doing and how they should/could go about it.

All places I've visited in Wellington have asked for, scanned and looked at results. None asked for ID.

Went to two places on the weekend that asked to see my pass.

Goode Brothers NorthWest: Scanned pass, and asked to see ID for everyone dining. My wife didn't have hers, but as the rest of the whanau did (and because of our shared surname), they pragmatically let her dine anyway. We were prepared to have to go somewhere else if this was problematic, but it was good to see them being sensible in their application of policy. We also learnt our lesson, and she will take ID with her in future.

Real Groovy Records: Scanned pass, but didn't require ID.

Went in to Macca's in Rotorua and they had the biggest guy on staff scanning vaccine passes. i was the only person in the restaurant and only went in to see what the process was like , the drive thru was flat out though.

Common sense is not as common as you think.
