Their barcode AI reader is lightning fast.

It didn't like the whole PDF. needed to zoom and use snip to crop just the qr as a larger size. Had no issue.

Not that I'll be going far. But have accumulated over 700$ not going anywhere!

Updated the app and done. Uploaded a screenshot of my pass and it read it immediately. So fast it was almost before the upload! Flying up to my parents next week so will see if this has actually worked or if I still get asked to show it when I board.

It is very fast. I'm guessing they are scanning the QR code client side, and just saving the yes or no result. At least that is how I would do it.

Apparently they MoH scanning app has a deliberate delay built in to allow the operator to ask a "verification" question to the scanee.. such as "what's you DOB " before the pass pops up as valid (or not)

The MoH scanning app on Android is pretty fast for me. I see no delay.

I've been to Australia very recently and it's my recollection from the information I saw about this was it could take about a two week time frame. It certainly wasn't worth doing for the few days I was there. Plus I think if you're not an Australian citizen you must do it in Australia.

I know a NZer who has just gone back over there and it was a very quick process to get done with their NZ pass which was done on the spot. You just need to visit an approved place with acccess to the AIR (such as a GP clinic) and they can do this for you.

So, today is the 14th when the temporary exemptions expire, and they still haven't gotten through the backlog (I applied for one using my Australian records so that I have a record ready if I want to visit family when the walls crumble).

Android has fixed the vanishing shortcut issue - and an update is to be available next week.

invisibleman18:

My brother got his second vaccine back in April in Hong Kong and he's just arrived back here to have his wedding on the 18th. His first request for a vaccine pass got no response so had to make another one (somehow there was no record of the first), and it's not even a temporary pass that he's been given, just a letter giving him an exemption until the 14th. What happens after then still remains to be seen. Can he get into his own wedding with a foreign vaccine pass if it still can't be sorted in time?

It shouldn't be so hard. The pass he has looks similar to the NZ one - a QR code with his name and the dates and details of 2 Pfizer vaccines.

They both finally received their NZ vaccine passes yesterday so they can get into their own wedding this Saturday. Now just need the Wellington Airport issues resolved today so I'm able to catch my flight tomorrow.

Hows everyone finding the compliance with Vaccine pass checks? In chch I'd say its 50/50 sighting it or not. Ive only had it scanned once in the last two weeks and never been asked for ID yet to compliment it.

Also in Chch - my experience is similar for sighting it. Mine's scanned maybe 50% of the times I'm asked to present it.
