antonknee:

Installed, found the sign up/onboarding to be very well done - gave good explanations of the app, how it works, privacy and data concerns etc.

Lots of comments on the Google store complaining about the onboarding not working. Looks like they may need a 1.0.1 release...

Here's an interesting one: If you search for it on the Google Play store (on a phone/tablet), you only get shown WHO information on Covid19. Even typing in "NZ COVID Tracer" returns WHO information but not the app itself. To find it, you have to do a web search for something that links to the Google Play location for it and then get in that way, because you can't search for it on the Play site.

Thanks, Google.

Struck that too. Just as easy to also kick off remote install from the web on a PC via the links.

Limited to Android 6. And possibly not tablets too. So hopefully won't be seeing grandparents out waving their folding case contained tablets around holding up entry :)

11PM Stuff article approached them and was advised they were released to store tonight, but processing was faster than expected (almost read like they found the links etc here...)

xpd:

Installed but cant use........ its designed for larger screen devices (Im using 5.2" 1080x1920 pixels), and then it gives me errors when trying to enter my details.

I think it's not so much a screen size problem as a bad UI problem, the on-screen keypad covers UI elements so you need to hit enter after each field you fill to move things up so the keypad isn't covering things any more.

BarTender:

 Looking at Singapore and AU that seems pretty low so the real value will be questionable.

In Australia didn't they use the threat that they would stay more restricted for longer, until a certain percentage had downloaded and installed their tracking app?.

In iOS it is very easy to find. But Google plays store is a mess, I get a list of different tracking apps, or the WHO information would think Google would be able to create a good search function for their store, considering they are supposed to be search engine experts.

Google give you what they think you want to see, not what you've asked for. Literally. You can enter search terms on Google for very specific things and Google will return pages that contain none of the search terms on them but that will be results that Google thinks you want to see.

I don't understand why they have only made the iOS version compatible with iOS 12 and newer . Many people, especially the elderly don't tend to have newer iphones. Many apps will support down to ios 10, which means older iphones like the 5C and 5 can get it which a lot of people do still use. These are often people who buy them refurbished .  Does the app use technology that isn't available on an iphone 5c and older?

I thought this app was on;y supposed to be a diary app, or is also doing tracking? I think iOS will have COVID tracking built into the latest iOS version soon anyway.

Apple restricts new app submissions to current iOS versions when you submit them for approval. I can’t recall if ios11 has been blocked for example, but I think 10 and older is blocked.

Older apps that worked with 9 and 10 are still in there, but eventually they will get swept up and the developer advised to update the app to be compatible with newer IOS versions, or the app will be removed (esp if it gets no updates and looks abandoned)

They must have made a change overnight,  successfully entered all details etc and got it running... now... I've yet to see a QR code on any official COVID signs in my travels :)

So have been through the process and created my poster for work :)

You WILL need :

* a RealMe login
* a New Zealand Business Number (NZBN)  and access to your NZBN profile
* authority over your business

The REALME account you use will need access to your Companies Office account to access the NZBN

Then sign up for Business Connect

The rest of the process is pretty smooth

So that basically knocks out a lot of sole traders, small fry keen to use it or ones who left the accountants to set things up. (Or tin foilers not wanting to sign up)

That wont get terribly much love :)

Sole Traders have/can apply for NZBN's

I would say they have implemented this ( and the strict password requirements on the app ) for when the app can submit data back MoH, so as not to shoehorn it in at a later stage and still make sure they comply with privacy concerns etc

However it will slow uptake of the QR codes :(

Shame you can't disable reviews.

There's people rating it because their device can't connect to play services and is 'waiting to install'.

Then there's non rtfm-ers

Having installed it I have no idea what if anything it is doing. Would be good if homescreen confirmed the app is working and collecting your location data etc.

Let alone the privacy and security experts that think their 2fa bank easy pw means this shouldn't be 10char
