Best wishes for a successful outcome. It’s always a bit scary, but really amazing how fast they get you up after surgery and how quickly the body adapts to the new normal. You’ll be feeling jolly for Christmas and the summer that's following.
I"m having a PET scan tomorrow morning. Apparently I have to stay away from children, pregnant women and pets for six hours after it, due to being radioactive during that period. Also better not to sleep with wife tomorrow night, to avoid long exposure.

Did you get the wet your pants feeling when the isotope was injected? Feels really weird.
Hope all goes well for you.
This is probably as good a place as any to remind people that this is also Skin Cancer season in the Sthn Hemisphere.
Just had my latest round of (what seems to be) annual facial surgery to remove "something suspect".
I didn't even think it looked like it was anything from the outside, but the surgeon thought otherwise. Another day, another scar...
Biopsy results pending.

Went for my annual skin check this morning (due to having a melanoma removed 5 years ago). Nothing to worry about right now. 👍

Out of curiosity, has your doctor ever suggested using/trying Efudix cream rather than straight to surgery. I was prescribed it recently for one "tricky to treat" spot on my forehead and it worked amazingly. Maybe worth discussing?
That's probably a make it go away solution rather than a this needs a biopsy one. Despite it never seeing sun if I can help it my back is full testament to a red headed Irish grandfather. My current GP muttered something about there isn't enough liquid nitrogen in the world for this and suggested Molemapping.
My experience with my father in law over the last few months highlights the importance of Mole Mapping especially when needing the public system to action issues. The skin specialist at our hospital only looks at items referred by doctor or mole mapping. Regular mapping means items can be picked up quickly and referred appropriately. Because he was not mole mapping we have a lot to sort out with a lot of different people with a lot of different locations. Get mapped and get issues sorted.

PET scan done. For anyone interested: because a small lesion was seen in one of my bones during the MRI, I had a CT scan. The doctor reading the CT marked as "possibly non-malignant" but seeing the prostate biopsy results came back positive for cancer, the surgeon decided to order a PET scan to ensure this was not the prostate cancer spreading.
PET scans use a radioactive contrast that will attach to cancer cells. These will light up like a Christmas tree during the scan. You receive an injection, wait 90 minutes, go through a PET machine and... that's it.
For the next four to six hours I am radioactive so I'm locked in the home office at the moment, avoiding my daughter and our little dog. The material goes out with urine, so drinking lots of water.
Hopefully this one comes negative, as I only need one thing to worry about.

Bung:
That's probably a .
With all due respect, I'd leave the assumptions out and, as suggested, discuss with a medical professional.
As a (once!) fair-haired child of the 70's living in the sun without and dun-protection, I too am now living to feel the consequences. I've been through the gamut of assessments/biopsies/removal/plastic surgery but fortunately remedies do improve over time, and when caught sufficiently early operations aren't the only solution
