Thank You Oblivian, if I’m forced to share it then I take no responsibility if it gets out in the wild. I know that they say they will follow Privacy Act, but things can go wrong.

Oblivian:

You also need to UL a snip of it to AirNZ to do their fancy scan of it.

The Air NZ app can also just scan the QR code, no need to upload an image of it, but I assume if you upload it then the QR code is extracted from the image and processed the same as if you'd scanned it and then the uploaded image is deleted. There's no need for them to keep the image, they just want to know the result of the scan (vaccinated, not vaccinated, etc).

When I scan the QR code’s for entering places in the COVID Applic, I don’t always get the option to open the Vaccine Pass from the COVID Applic.

Is it business dependant on this option coming up?

I’ve worked out the above on iOS. If the COVID Applic is open in the back ground get the option to open Vaccine Pass from it, if I closed it right down and it’s opening fresh option doesn’t come up. Guess a small bug.

A lot of places that require the vaccine pass are not scanning it. I don't carry a paper copy which is what it would seem a lot of people might be doing as most places get confused by the QR code I present them for scanning. Yes, quite a few places are also looking for an electronic copy the downloaded pdf.

Just presenting a QR code on its own causes confusion with a lot of people.

There seems to be a very poor understanding about how the QR code works. There is very little comprehension that scanning the QR code is the way the pass was intended to be used and technically the best method.

They only need to sight it. Not scan it.

And the preferred thing to sight is the cert app or printed wallet copy

We did say adding it to stocard would likely not be supported. You are seeing result of this.

So why did they bother putting a QR code on the passport if there was no intention to use it? Why have MOH put a verifier app in the apps store if they didn't want businesses to scan?  Your argument doesn't add up.

You're asking in the wrong place

The intention and breif was clear. However the legislation left out the requirement to verify the system generated as part of the brief and left a gaping waste of time.

This is where MoH and the government were not aligned. MoH wanted the QR scanner to be routinely used along with matching up to photo ID to ensure the identity is legit, the government during one of the 1pm standups said "sighting the pass is fine".

And this is the mess we are now in.

I suspect once community transmission takes hold the restrictions will tighten.

For me it's been 50:50 whether they (1) just sight the pass or (2) sight the pass AND scan it. Worse still I've never been asked for my ID so could have been using someone else's passes the whole time.

Sounds about par for the course. Anyone with average photoshop skills could make a legit looking pass using any old QR code they had lying around.

Certainly there are potentially to present a false vaccination card.
There is checking and then there is checking.

Pretty much all the cases in Auckland now.

She said staff at the brothel on Newton Rd were covered by the vaccine mandate, and all customers were required to show a vaccine pass to gain entry.
""

I can understand that Government may have been advised that stricter scanning rules may have pushed privacy nuts into antivax camp.
Though at least scanning and verifying name on card vs that on the scan.
Reduces the potential to easily create your own, to having to buy a copy of a real one.

However you then have ones that don't mind blustering their way through when completely fake QR does not scan.
Blaming the scanner, printer, typical Government crappy systems that don't work.
Then getting through anyway as people vociferously push they case its not their fault if Government systems are crappy.

Current delta outbreak has only been supported and kept going by relatively few people.

I suppose it works in a way then, as most people do the right thing, over 90%.
If you are not being scanned then you have choice to not stay in that shop too long or leave.

Dammed if you do Dammed if you don't.

If boosters don’t extend expiry date (saw from another thread), what happens when pass expires. Is it just a matter of downloading a new one, or are you suddenly locked out of  Restaurants, hair dressers etc?

Mine expires few weeks before June.

Crystal ball is in workshop..keeps giving current day prediction only ;)

Noone knows. But the intent before omicron was we would be jabbed to the hilt and maybe not need them.
If we still do, your details are now known. A new one issued is an email away.

Mine too, but they have about 5 months to fix it, so I'm not going to worry about it for another 4 months.

I got boosted this week.  The nurse told me the booster has no impact on vaccine passport.  Mine expires in may so it will be interesting to see what happens then.
