alasta:

I just checked mine and I can confirm it has vanished from my wallet.

Mine expired a few days ago but it's still present in the wallet. Got a replacement just in case and now they're both present.

Anyone know why they give it any expiry date? It's not like you're going to suddenly unvaccinate yourself after six months, makes about as much sense as having your birth certificate expire.

The 490m set aside for 4th round might have something to do with their line of thinking.

But when I tried to install on my wife's Iphone 13 from Gmail, selected Add to Apple Pay, it showed the pass and then displayed a Google screen and then just presented a blank screen. Could not get it to install at all but I am sure I got it working with the first pass.

Any ideas what to do?

It was down to the browser in the first round. Copy the URL and try an alternate one.

The new pass is available now. Just requested it and installed on my Android device. New expiry is 19 Nov 2022.

Did this and it installed fine to Google Pay  on my Pixel. But when I tried to install on my wife's Iphone 13 from Gmail, selected Add to Apple Pay, it showed the pass and then displayed a Google screen and then just presented a blank screen. Could not get it to install at all but I am sure I got it working with the first pass.

I had this with my iphone - I use Firefox, and that didnt work - copied the link into safari and it worked fine.

I am not an IOS person so can somebody explain that?

The email arrived in Gmail which I opened using the Gmail app.

There is an icon to add to Apple Pay. Pressed that and it opened up the cert  and showed it. Then pressed add to Apple Pay and I get a blank screen.

How do I select the add cert link to paste it into a different browser?

Or can I temporarily make the default app for opening URL's Safari?

Even though I am an Android person and often feel like a second-class user as far as app developer are concerned, I am stunned that this problem arises on the latest Apple device running the latest software. Does it mean the app developers never tried it on a phone that has a default browser that is Safari?

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

You should be able to press and hold the "add to wallet" icon and force the options to show, and that will include copy link. This is true for any link in emails etc.

If your default browser is Chrome (on your iPhone) like me it'll show a blank screen when you go "add to wallet". Click on the share icon in the top right of Chrome and select "Open in Safari" and then click "Add" in the top corner.  Chrome just doesn't support this stuff.

When setting up my new (S22U) phone a couple of months ago, my GPay app transferred across with all (five!) loyalty cards included but not my vaccine pass.  Didn't bother about it as I had a hard copy and by then passes were rarely requested.  The icon/link for the pass transferred across to the same location on the screen of the new phone but was not functional as the pass wasn't in GPay.

Yesterday I installed the new pass into GPay on my new phone and the original icon from my old S8 now works.  Brings up the new pass, so it seems the link for the new and old passes must be the same?

This morning I noticed that the link on my old phone still brings up the old pass (expiry date 19 May) and that GPay on the old phone* contains only the old pass (while GPay on the new phone contains only the new pass).  Seems the GPay folders are local to each phone (which no doubt everyone but me already knew?)

* still use the old phone occasionally - has a new pay-as-go sim, so now a different phone number.  But same Google account on both phones.

Correct

Adding the shortcut for the new one moans it is already present. Ala, same shortcut. It's to a 'section' (presume also secure as need to verify) in Gpay storage. So no, not cloud. So you get to see both and have option of removing the 2nd

Thanks.  Explains exactly what I saw.

That didn't work. I get the blank screen in Chrome about:blank and if choose the share icon in the top of Chrome I just get about:blank in the address line

Then do it from the email as outlined above?

It's just a magic URL. The browser does the rest based on handing off to the OS. If you are opening an about:blank and not the source URL before it jumps, you are likely only going to share an about:blank as experienced.

The google API is universal added to the phones. Some browsers just don't know how to handle the URL (or block it as a popup)

https://api.certificates.covid19.health.nz/ext/nzcp/v1/apple-pass?payload=NZCP:/1/2...

Most international installers seem to advise to ensure using Safari if on IOS.

Or it's some "security" feature, certainly when I fire up GPay I get the secure environment (TEE) indicator come up on the status bar. Another great example of security theatre, if someone wants to know my vaccination status they can either look at the unprotected plaintext email saying so in the email app or beam a 5G signal at my head and see if I flinch. In the meantime to display my vax status to anyone I have to hold up everyone else while I faff around unlocking and de-protecting something that's practically public knowledge anyway.

Odd.

I'm guessing the biometric verification aspect was a google thought of thing, As if used properly would have been perfect helper to sort of indicate it wasn't a screenshot/fake one. But, non tech savvy etc didn't give a hoot. The likes of IOS had a shortcut to bypass biometric check/secure area with a double-tap of power button (or watch button)

You could show them a QR with fake name and if they didn't ID check it they took it at face value (saw someone do it with the raw QR on their watch)

Become an issue when I went to an Oppo, face unlock was set, and although not default the Pass app continued to use it.. While we are all wearing masks entering restaurants..
