cshwone:

It's not that simple.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/2/8/catching-covid-twice-what-you-should-know-about-reinfections

Yup. Given the small but serious risk of immediate complications, the small but serious risk of long Covid, and the fact that the jab gives you better protection than catching it, immunity via getting Covid is a really bad idea.

The best strategy, if you can manage it, is the one stated by a friend of mine as: "They reckon 50% of the country will get Covid. I plan to be in the 50% that doesn't".

Went for a covid test this morning.

Have cold type symptoms.

I probably wouldn't have bothered and just isolated at home for a week, but I am booked into hospital end of Feb so if it is covid they would probably want to reschedule me.

Good luck with it. Assuming it is still better not to have it than to have it, I hope you don't have it.

I hope I dont have it.

I've waited a while for this appointment, and god knows how long it would take to get another one.

Got confirmation that the RATs we have ordered for our staff will arrive circa 25/2/2022 which is very pleasing news

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

So very frustrated that I STILL don't have my result. I have staff away, the week from hell at work, and I can't leave the house, and there is a chance that if they can't clear the result within 5 days they will discard the sample after which time I am unsure what I am supposed to do.

I haven't had symptoms for 3+ days now. My son is still not completely well. My wife result is negative, but there is a chance both my son and I have it and my wife didn't have it yet.

I guess you can only do what you can do, and everyone is feeling the pain..

I'm just ranting. Feel free to ignore :)

+1 for moral support. Sorry I can't do more. I can only imagine how frustrating that must be.

Thank you that's kind of you to say. At the end of the day, we aren't that badly off, it just feels like one thing after another at the minute, and it's having to constantly re-arrange stuff, etc.

Either way I'll be able to be back at work Wednesday.

I am essentially living as if we are in Level 4 at the moment.

The whole country seems far more unsettled than when we were in lockdown.

Meanwhile a friend of mine in the UK is presently relaxing in his villa in Malta for the next couple of weeks. Then back to the UK for a couple of weeks before 10 days skiing in Italy. In a few months he is off to Croatia for a wedding followed by a couple of weeks sailing in the Med.

The feeling there seems very much to be "get on with life".

I am also still in this boat as is my partner.

I have heard that sometimes it will show up in the my vaccine record MOH site so check there too, just checked mine but no dice.

When were you tested?

We were done Thursday afternoon.

Tested Wednesday PM, lab got the sample 8pm Wednesday. It's not really about the result, but about the not being able to plan anything because you don't know if you 'can't be near other people and the constant changing of plans.

On the plus side we made excellent use of the weekend to spring clean some areas of our house. I haven't seen some sections of our lounge and dining area for over 5 years, and it's now completely clear.

Your wife may have it and be asymptomatic. That's one of the ways this virus spread so well. Some people infected with it have no symptoms (that they are aware of).....

Rant away! Sorry the testing is being slow. That's been a problem all over the world when a wave starts......it can be hard to keep up.

People scoffed when I suggested small business are going to be hit hard, and entire families due the need to wait the 5day not direct but secondary contact screening

Seems I wasn't wrong

Today before 9am the chc airport testing station had looped traffic back round the cul-de-sac, and is now snaked past orchard rd/harewood road roundabout and stationary cars on yellow lines past the engineering hangar

If you know the site.. that's quite an effort.
