This is the ONLY app on my phone that auto logs me out by default! There must be at least one person still in their development team insisting on bureaucracy over ease of use.
Opening on camera by default is a long overdue but welcome update.
Sounds like a good update. It's good to see that they're taking feedback on board.

Apparently auto-logging-out is a security best practice, which I can see the logic in that. I suppose we should be grateful that they also don't force a password change every 90 days, like a lot of companies do.
Good to see they took mine (and probably others) feedback about opening the camera on launch (I emailed there email address suggesting it). Makes it so much simpler and easier to scan the QR Codes, in my case I just open the app via my lockscreen shortcut, unlock my phone through the fingerprint reader and hold it up to scan. So many less taps needed :)
Anyway the main reason people go into the app is to scan the QR Code so it makes sense to have that ability on first open
This is fun π ... performed the update and now app wants me to Log In again.
Of course, forgot Password so asked for re-set .... no return email with 6-digit code! Been waiting 30 minutes for it, then asked for re-send.
Nothing yet after 10 minutes.
Anyone else experienced this problem? π
Where do you find out what the latest version is?
I have an Android phone and the current installed version is 1.3.0 (387)

Numerous times here and what one of the core issues is. Swap out from the app and the code recycles
Just do it online using the web port in a browser - it's basically what the app is doing just formatted different. https://tracing.covid19.govt.nz/login
Ver 1.4.0
Go to Play Store, tap/click the 3 bars (top left), select My Apps and all available updates are there.

You will soon know - the app will open to scan first if its the new one :)
But my profile, Scroll down. Ver is listed there
1.4.0(400) on android

@Oblivian ... >Swap out from the app and the code recycles<.
What does that mean, please.
It's the nature of apps and android in general.
Hit the home button - the app is not in focus but in the background
hit the back button - the app is not in focus and may close
Hit the app switch button - the app is not in focus
Each time an app is not in focus. They react differently. In this case, The reset code is invalidated. And refreshes.
Just like a security token timing out. If the recovery key is in the queue to send. It sends the wrong one.
The only way to enter a valid code is use the draw-down bar with part of the email exposed with the key. Or use the web and just enter the changed PW in the app.

Wifey had this problem - ended up giving up and re-registering. This was when the '2nd wave' started and was under the impression that the system was overloaded with people doing the same thing. Sadly it seems they haven't sorted it! Thankfully I've used Googles app password saving feature + enabled 2FA so haven't had this issue!
Tried the web site for Password re-set .... no email with 6-digit code!
Rickles:
However, a Password re-set should not be a difficult matter as sites all round the world do it almost instantaneously all the time.
Totally agree - she tried this over multiple days (maybe 6-10 times to reset/recover) and did not see an email. I think even tried going through the help desk (saw similar reviews on the app on the play store). They couldn't really help her. Just ended up giving up and signing up using a new email address (it won't let you reuse one thats already registered).
I tried the forgot password for her using the webapp - that didn't work either (not surpisingly but thought it was worth a shot).
