andrewNZ: I'm not a big fan of this app. My biggest gripe is that if doesn't open ready to scan, and I have to acknowledge every scan.

The latest version, as explained a couple of pages back, opens directly in scan. If you don't have automatic update set on your phone, do it manually now.

No-scan bug is a little wider than first thought.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/coronavirus/122710918/some-phones-not-recording-visits-on-covid-tracer-app--unbeknownst-to-users

But some of the other statements are a little ho-hum...

The Government was “way too cautious” about privacy.

“Privacy is not an absolute right – if you are trading that off with thousands of lives then the public deserve an honest debate about the pros and cons of bluetooth-enabled app and using telecom data.

Agree, eliminate this unnecessary step and it will be pretty much complete (finally).

I could swear I posted that an update had fixed it.

I do have auto updates enabled, but the app had not updated.
I was notified of the update by a response to my review minutes after posting here.

As for the update being mentioned a few pages back... I'm afraid I'm not going to trawl through the past pages to check, that's a lot of time for very little gain.

Still have to acknowledge every scan though, and worse, the ok button has now been pushed down by the stupid comment box meaning I have to scroll to ok it

The acknowledgement wasn't as useful as it is now. Sure. But it's validated with asking for details. They want people to note who they were with and expected time etc to assist with tracking interaction and memory jog.

I see it as no different to needing to open messenger and tap send. Or entering a number and hitting dial.

I'm able to distinguish using notes if it was a work visit. Or private. Which changes if I was mingling while trying to avoid joe public, or with staff members in closer quarters.

I've noticed a lot more people scanning codes when I've been out and about lately. But I'm in Auckland and maybe Aucklanders are putting in more effort than the rest of the country since we've been through a second lockdown and really don't want to have to repeat it again.

It's good to see that my local supermarkets have added a lot more posters of the code around their entrances, originally they only had one. Something that other shops could improve on, many smaller shops only seem to have one copy of the poster, they really need one at the door and another at the counter at the very least to encourage people.

I've seen a lot of people scanning, but m ore that don't

I can only control what I do, so I scan everywhere. It's quick, easy and works well nearly every time.

Some that don't scan do a manual entry when inside (esp. if the queue to scan is too long), so not scanning doesn't mean people are not doing there part

note 5% of all tracer app entries to date are manual

That is an interesting stat. I have never done a manual entry as I have difficulty typing on mobile devices so it would be a major nuisance for me. The QR posters are comparatively seamless.

TVNZ reporting MOH have approved the Apple/Google bluetooth exposure notifications https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/groundbreaking-bluetooth-contact-tracing-tool-now-available-nz-iphone-users

Turning it on still seems broken though.

I have the latest version as I have been opening the app and been ready to scan immediately for a few days now.

Today, open the app, pointed it at the code and then got the logon screen which forced me away from the code (to allow the person behind me to scan), to logon and then back to the code

So the mention on the news of the iPhone exposure bluetooth app if I go to that setting and try and turn it on it just says your region has an app for that.

Is this baked into our national app. ??

Edit : Never mind I do see it is baked into our app. Well I am guessing it is.

No it's a separate apple thing.

The in app one you show is the alerts opt in for our govt to send it. Same on both platforms. (And you agree to share the data) No automation without agreement. But 13.7 api use is separate

It does seem however all they've done is opted not to use it, and advise to head to their app instead
