Don’t fret too much about pain after surgery as they are utterly brilliant at pain control and you will likely have a pump that you press to self administer more pain relief as needed so you will doze a lot of the time and feel completely disconnected from it.

One thing to make clear to possible visitors is that you will lie there listening to them but will keep your eyes closed and probably won’t respond. It is the most exhausting thing trying to keep eyes open when you are just too tired and under the influence of pain relief.

Come Autumn and this will all be over.

Hi folks. That's it. I am going offline now to try some sleep.

Checking in tomorrow at the hospital around 7 AM for a 8.30 AM surgery - which can go for up to six hours.

I won't be aware of my surroundings for a few hours after that and don't expect to check Geekzone anytime for the next two or three days.

Behave yourselves.

Thinking of you and hope you get a good nights sleep before the event. A big hug and warm wishes for a comfortable next few days. Keep positive and this too will pass.

May the force be with you.
