Behodar:
I didn't see that message on my iPhone, and Settings/Exposure Notifications/Status/Exposure Checks doesn't list any. Hmm...
There is now a check listed for yesterday at 14:05. It must just take them a while to get through them all.
I think this message is on point: "Don't come and bitch about the government not doing enough when you can't even be arsed scanning a code, gary"

Loismustdye: Anybody having issues turning on bluetooth tracing on ios?
Ive an iphone XS max, running ios 14.something and the dashboard in the tracer app asks me to allow permissions in settings, however when the app puts me in settings there is nowhere to allow this.
Weirdly BT was on Im sure last I checked (a month or so ago).
Cheers

I got into an endless loop on step 3, bouncing between the iphone apps and the step 3, until I hit skip.

On iOS devices in particular, you might need to check that Exposure Notifications as a iOS system setting is enabled and for the correct region. MOH suggests (https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/diseases-and-conditions/covid-19-novel-coronavirus/covid-19-resources-and-tools/nz-covid-tracer-app/questions-and-answers-nz-covid-tracer):
"Some iPhone users are taken to a blank settings page after installing the update. If this happens, please open your phone’s 'Settings' and find the 'Exposure Notifications' item. Turn on 'Exposure Notifications' and select New Zealand as your region."

I know a bit about the NZ COVID Tracer app, but I don't work for Ministry of Health
Andrew (and others) - how are you all finding the battery drain?
Ios 14, it's consistently the largest drain these days - 36% of battery usage in last 24 hours for me.
Quite a bit more than I was expecting..... is it just the key checking algorithm? (I thought they said it doesn't use any extra battery if bluetooth is on anyhow?
Last 24hrs = 7% at 4th spot. At 5th spot is Home & Lock Screen with 4%
Last 10 days = 13% at 1st spot. Home & Lock Screen is 4th with 7%
Please keep this GZ community vibrant by contributing in a constructive & respectful manner.
If it is pointed at as a drainer.. could always enable at mass-people areas as you head up to scan. And off when back in transport.
PM had to point out people were relying on it and not scanning. And ill advised. Like we didn't see that coming.

I'm on an Android device, and I normally have Bluetooth on anyway for headphones. I haven't noticed any additional battery drain over the last two months.
Is it NZ COVID Tracer being attributed with the drain, or Exposure Notifications? I have been seeing some reports of Exposure Notification draining a bit of battery, possibly because of the key checking (even though this should only be happening a few times a day at most and it should be a relatively low-energy operation to just ping a server). More generally there appear to be complaints that iOS 14 has more significant battery drain than previous versions, but that wouldn't necessarily lead to the battery report described...

I should have explored, and then explained better - it's the 'Exposure Notifications' that's doing the 36% battery usage - NZ Covid App is listed as 2%.
(also note, these are battery usage, not total battery)
OK so that sound OK I guess

Ok, so "Exposure Notifications" is the Google/Apple protocol (the Bluetooth bit). I have a suspicion that it is attributing some of the Bluetooth activity generally when it's otherwise not doing anything (i.e. Bluetooth is broadcasting because of ENF and you aren't connected to headphones or something else) to the battery consumption, but I'm not 100% sure. There's a lot of contradictory stuff being reported overseas...

I have Bluetooth on all the time - smartwatch (both Withings and Huawei always connected), three different headphones (not always connected but I switch between then as needed, when needed), desktop (for security) and the Google/Apple notification framework. Haven't seen any impact on my Android device - perhaps because already using Bluetooth a bit for years?

Early on (and some still seem to see it) *something*, sends some devices in a spaz.
Constant key checking and so on. It was reported with the initial release and had the long delays enabling or wouldn't seem to toggle on for some. And holding that message on screen seems to hog it. When yep, it should only be 2x a day or push request.
Think we found it was nothing convincingly obvious, but may have been associated with the order the app requested the EN be toggled, or if the user had it on already and the app just hooked in
I wasn't one of those examples. But soon After reinstalling (someone advised they experienced a faster start up and scan as fast as the early version again where you didn't even need it middle of screen on a P20 and blink it would read). And it started to be fulltime on my device.
So I disabled BT. Not completely, Just the interface permissions the app have to use EN. Which is as easy as a slider in the EN settings while everything else trucked on and NZC app complains it wasn't on.
Since then something else has gone poof, and it doesn't even detect my device as being compatible (Google interface knows the API is there, but won't open or talk to it now)
OK, So it took a 3rd party app to do. But fixed my BT/EN menu from being dead. May be handy to anyone else that strikes the inability to see the EN menu/BT integration on some devices.
Since a previous data reset/rollback. Play Store Services was apparently still at an old version (despite play store updating which is meant to trigger it too)
Couldn't find it in the store with standard search previously. But a 3rd party 'checker' app did a version check on all 3 play modules gave me the core versions, I compared to wiki and noticed it was old, App linked straight to the store URL which then made it appear and gave a manual 'update' button
Ta-da. BT functionality back.
In other news.. We all know a relative that's tried this first right..
