chatterbox:On a personal level I've always swabbed throat and both nostrils. More sample the better I figure. I mean you're testing because you want to know if you have covid.
How far down the throat did you put it? After my gag-inducing PCR I'm reluctant to push it too far down.

I went just past the little boxing speed-bag then a few dabs on each side of the throat (which I assume is the tonsils?). Obviously need to remove it little then re-insert to do the second side as to not hit said speed-bag with the swab.
Also need to be careful to avoid touch your tongue apparently. Definitely need to do it in front of a mirror!
It's also made more difficult (and presumably more dangerous/choking hazard) by the short swabs provided with most kits. For a lot of people it's easier to get someone to do it for you if that's an option.
Went to Mitre 10 yesterday, 4 checkouts open and none of the operators had a mask. What the hell. Have I missed a new memo?

Driver for the airport bus wasn't wearing a mask either. All the passengers were, but not the driver.
Some people go to ridiculous lengths to avoid wearing masks. Uber requires that drivers take a selfie wearing a mask at the start of the shift, so some drivers will put the mask on, take the selfie, then take it off again and do the shift maskless (that's from an Uber driver who's seen it happen).

Makes perfect sense. Masks don't protect the wearer, they protect those who come near the wearer. So if you are a selfish dick, there is no reason to wear one!
Plesse igmore amd axxept applogies in adbance fir anu typos
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
Wearing a mask each and every business day is ... wearing. My partner is still required to wear one in their office, but they are talking about making it optional as 'most people are just over it or have had COVID-19 already'.
WFH has been banned by her organisation for reasons known only to management, but she prefers the buzz and interactions of the office anyway.

Caviler because they want their employees to come to work?

Masks can add some protection to both the wearer and others around the wearer. If you wear one you get some protection from any COVID that may happen to be swirling around you. If you have COVID then a mask may reduce the amount of COVID you are adding to the air around you that others nearby are breathing.
But it depends on the type and fit of the mask. Cloth masks are pretty useless. Ill fitting surgical type masks are definitely useless - gaps or mask under nose. Those two categories would apply toa very significant percentage of mask wearers I see in public.
I also personally know two people who have contracted COVID despite assiduous use of a properly fitted N95 mask.
There seems to be a false sense of security around masks. If you are seriously compromised you can't rely on other people's mask wearing to keep you free of COVID.
At my usual place of work, like most, masks are not mandatory. Few wear them at their desk and about 1 in 10 wear them when in meetings or moving around the office.

About 1 out of every 10 customers in our local supermarket don't wear a mask and it seems to be increasing every time I go in there. The longer masks are kept, the more people won't wear them.
