HelloThere: Out of the three customers that were at the local petrol station this morning there was zero compliance and the staff didn't enforce it. .

Its not their job to, and there is apparently advice from worksafe not to engage with non-maskers...

Although it you go into Rushie's Supermarket in Whangas you'll get trespassed and ejected,

Went away last week for a relaxing break - booked a holiday home in Martinborough with a spa pool just to get away somewhere quiet. We self catered and only went out for one dinner on our last night (Thursday), and lunch on the way home on Friday and otherwise didn't see anyone else. My mother in law looked after our cats for the week and she is immunocompromised, so even though we had no symptoms we did tests on Saturday morning just to be safe before going to her place to pick them up and they were negative. Spent the weekend with her and came back still feeling fine on Sunday night. Yesterday morning my wife went to work then randomly started sneezing so did a test there it came back positive.

We're trying out best to isolate from each other although it's difficult in a small house with only one bathroom - I'm working from home in the lounge/dining room and she is in the bedroom down the other end of the house and I just drop food etc by the door for her, and I slept in the spare room last night. So far I've had negative tests yesterday and today and still feel fine, but expect it must be coming as we went to all the same places and the only time we haven't been together over the last week was the couple of hours between her going to work and coming home yesterday morning. Mostly worried we could have passed it to her Mum as she is likely to get quite badly affected by it. She's ok so far but it may still be a bit soon.

As we'd been away for a week we hadn't had a chance to do a grocery shop yet so were pretty low on fresh stuff, but managed to get a countdown delivery slot last night so did a big shop to last us. First time ever doing a grocery delivery order. Also after lodging the positive result the helpline people called her to check in that we had enough supplies, then dropped off a supply of RAT tests, masks, gloves and sanitiser on our doorstep this morning.

My wife works at a major hospital and has been around a lot of covid positive patients so we'd expected she would eventually pick it up from work. She was the only person in her area not to get it until now.

Hopefully it will pass smoothly like it has for so many others. The bright side, at least you had a nice break which can now be stretched for another week cosy at home.

True. I work from home anyway so doesn't make much difference to me other than having to miss the sport I play this week.

We, neither of us, got that phone call after lodging our positive results each 5 days apart. Not that we needed vittles or such.

Have they given up on providing finger SaO2 monitors now ??

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

@invisibleman18 any reason you are trying to avoid catching it from your partner?

Pretty sure that was a 'Delta' thing, that fell by the way side when Omicron turned up,  and only appear to be used now for 'high risk' cases,

Because I'd rather not be sick? Cough/colds tend to linger for weeks for me so would rather avoid it if I can (no idea how it will each different person), and having just been away for a week I have a few work deadlines that I'd rather not be sick for.

It's probably futile though as I surely picked it up at the same place, but have still tested negative today and feel fine.

FWIW my wife had covid and we spent the week at home. She was in the bedroom, I slept in the lounge, daughter in her own room. We have two toilets but one bathroom only. Good thing weather was nice in April so when she wanted to come to the bathroom or do something else we could just step outside to the deck.

Neither myself or daughter caught it.

Yeah it's a little harder here as we only have the one bathroom/toilet so no choice but to share that, but otherwise we're able to keep to opposite ends of the house.

Anyone had problems getting the second booster shot and can't take the Pfizer because of a previous bad reaction? I know of someone elderly who had a bad reaction to the pfizer and was was told they must pay to go to their doctor to get a script for teh alternative (guessing possibly AstraZeneca), and then the vaccine must be specially ordered in, and it can only be done at a vaccination centre in another town. Not sure if they also need to pay for the vaccination. Isn't the booster the same material as initial doses anyway? Seems very odd. I see on the online booking for, if booing in a second booster, only pfizer is in the drop down list.

I thought all the crazy anti-vaxxers were holding for this vaccine. Or was it only a distraction? Should I be surprised? Were they lying all along? Just a grift?

Update: I have still tested negative today and feel fine. My wife has quite a bad cough and no energy, and has also been unable to sleep the last 2 nights. She has asthma so already has dodgy lunges so the coughing has hit her quite hard. Mother in law reports she also quite headachy and coughing today but has had a negative test.
