Sent someone home with something that is apparently not Covid yesterday. Relived to finally have a RAT that said negative but a) they shouldn't have been there and b) doesn't seem like they'd done one this week (had done one previously).
We really do deserve everything we get at this point.
We've solved that problem here in Australia. You're only a close contact if you've been in a residential setting with someone who tests positive (apparently COVID-19 signed a contract not to infect in workplaces) so you also don't have to tell anyone if you contract COVID-19. Result: there's no COVID-19! If you don't test, you don't detect! Simples!
I have heard hospitals are not doing too well over there, even though ICU capacity is quite a lot better than NZs. I feel it is heading for disaster in NZ, in terms of it badly affecting regular other health services for those not sick with covid or the flu. This is a lack of leadership at the moment IMO, and so many anti vax and mask people.

I tested positive this morning, and Himself did as well.
We both have a cough, temperature etc.
At midnight last night we both had the chills, maybe that's a thing now.
Yeah I had the chills on I think day 2. Stood up from the couch to go to bed and it was like I'd pressed a swtich. All of a sudden absolutely freezing and shaking uncontrollably. Felt like I was in the water in Antarctica. The next night had the opposite and all of a sudden was absolutely roasting.
Anyway, tested positive on Thursday 30 June so day of freedom was last Friday. Still felt fairly average on Friday morning so did a test to check and it showed a stronger positive (darker line) than the initial test. Still have a bit of a cough and croaky voice now but head and energy feel almost back to normal. Just done a test and it's now showing almost negative - extremely faint line you can just about see with a squint.
My wife tested positive 3 days before me on the Monday and had it a bit worse due to asthma and is still wheezing. She's still off work this week for a third week. Was probably ok to do some reduced hours this week but doctor decided to take no chances as she works at a Hospital with vulnerable patients etc.

Well I have to say, COVID was pretty easy for me
Chills that were gone within 24 hours, a cough the ended up disappearing by Wednesday and any lingering signs of 'something isn't right' gone by Thursday evening ... I have now officially ended my isolation and can rejoin society.
I certainly have had colds and flu that have brought be down a lot harder and for longer
That being said, I am not going to say 'just catch COVID, the flu is worse' because no one can know what it is going to do to you
I'll probably be home from work until mid-week in order to look after my father who does seem to be suffering a little bit
Started feeling symptoms Thursday evening but still negative. Friday test and very faint positive.
Some how parent teacher interviews didn't do it or being in classrooms with 20 odd sick students but a week into the school holidays not being around people that will do it.
Hacking productive cough, tired and congested, Massive night sweats on the Friday. Sleep is terrible.
Worse than a cold, not as bad as the flu. Would not recommend.
I got the "ok to rejoin society" text on Friday morning, still feeling a bit grotty today but improving as time goes on. My Boss thankfully putting no pressure on me to return to the office.
Today is my last day of isolation.
I have an appointment on Wednesday which requires me to be covid-negative, so I just did a RAT and I got a very faint line where I didn't want to see one.
I'm going to postpone the appointment but am I still allowed out?

Tested positive this morning. I had absolutely no symptoms yesterday morning. It was only after dinner around 7pm that I noticed felling a bit off. By 10pm when it was time for bed I'd gone downhill dramatically. Had a restless sleep and took a test this morning. Only faint but still a positive. Bugger!
I hope you get better soon.
Wife had a sore throat for the last four days. She's got negative all the way through today, when it went away. No temperature, no other pain or runny nose. I think we might have dodged this one.

johno1234: No point in rat or pcr testing after infection as it can still show positive for weeks after recovery.
You are clear if you are seven days post first symptoms or positive test, whichever came first, as long as you are symptom free.
Tell your appointment this and leave it up to them.
7 days is a pretty arbitrary number, some people can be contagious for longer and still contagious with no or minor symptoms it varies.
Stay home until you are well and for 24 hours after you no longer have symptoms.
I agree with: tell your appointment, they can decide if they want to postpone to be safe, require masks etc
Yeah, took longer than 7 days for me. Still had a cough and really croaky voice all week last week - day out of isolation was the previous Friday 8th and definitely didn't feel well enough to go out. Test on 13th still showed positive. Finally feel pretty much back to normal now although still slight cough, and test finally showed negative yesterday.
I am the "last man standing" in my extended family, and am suffering from a mild dose of survivor guilt. 😐
I have never had any Covid symptoms. ...
My 3 adult children - in 3 different locations - and their partners, and all 5 of their school-age children have contracted Covid (RAT positive) within the last month.
The infection appears to have been acquired via the children's schools in all cases - the children were ill before their parents.
We are all fully-vaccinated mask users.
Nobody has required hospitalization.
