the good thing is that it is 4 people from the same family and by the sound of it the same household.

Not good. They didn't spontaneously create it. It came from elsewhere in wider Auckland.

Selling people the BS dream that Auckland's level 3 status can be reviewed after Friday is a joke. We should be going to level 3 for 2 weeks in Auckland -- what if casual-casual "contacts" beyond those that are being isolated are around? The problem is that people are getting ever more complacent and if there's any uncertainty we are better off taking the most cautious approach.

And for god's sake change the law and raise the level of fines for rule breaches and slow all incoming flights right down.

mattwnz: Bugger.
GrrrR, With the complacency and lack of community testing, I wonder how long it has been spreading in the community for. Hope they can find the initial source.

Did you tune in?

It was community testing that found it. They did the right thing and presented themselves.

And it will now skyrocket as a result.

Obviously some tests are being done and they have increased very recently . But my point has been for several months that the numbers being tested in the community since moving to level 1 and the MOH changing their testing requirements, was too low , and the Minister of health also said this. Well below the 4000 per day. This maybe coming back to bite us if it is actually more widespread than we think. There are also resthomes in Christchurch which have possible cases.

where was the continual testing of those at the MIF? they should have been undergoing weekly or biweekly testing of all staff there.

This.

FINE FOR EVERYONE. You shouldn't be on the street? Fine. You skipped self-isolation? Fine.

That was absolute clickbait.

Read full article, it's standard process during flu season if more than a couple are infected to send a note. Someone got wind of it.

Why midday tomorrow? Why give people the time to congregate?
If MOH are serious it should be from midnight tonight or from immediate effect.

Voluntary. Unfortunately same boat. Suggested, not hard requirement.

The problem is that they can’t trace it back to a source or to the border. This creates a major problem and is why we had to move up levels. It must have come through the border, so the question is where is the leak in the processes.

Batman:

Maybe there is a way to learn how to stop-start? Not saying it's a good or a bad thing but this is for the long haul.

People who keep saying "zero community transmission" - thing is you never know. Now we know that isn't true.

For no links between quarantine facility to a whole family with Covid - there are quite a few out there to get to this stage.

we had zero community transmission for a 100 days so it was true , and the link hasnt been found yet but it is early, the only place it really could come from is the isolation facilities unless you think it can lie dormant for 3 months and then return.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

The commercial airlines crew was not required to stay in 14 days isolation. They stayed in hotels for night or two and left the country. It could have been them as well.

Do whatever you want to do man.

A lot of people won't know of this - no news, already in bed, whatever. They would go to work tomorrow morning - for people who can work from home, this means grab your laptop and get out.

I don’t disagree that it was click bait. But they did also say that the odds of the rest home cases being Covid cases was very low due to no community transmission. But that has now changed and all of NZ is now under level 2 restrictions in case there are cases outside Auckland.
