@TeaLeaf:

Partner has an operation at 12 noon tomorrow. Does this mean I am going to have to wait 4 hours in the car for the operation to be done?

Will ring them in the morning to be sure, but just thought somebody might know what level 3 will mean for partners waiting for a patient.....

bang on 12 same time as their operation.

Call the hospital - if you are in Auckland things have changed drastically now.

Go harder on anyone coming into the country now - fancy hotels? Yeah, expect even less.

I get people are scared and this is the last thing they want. But I don't see how punishing returning kiwis helps. Agree with isolation and agree with a charge if its a temporary visit, but it's to help keep the country safe, not a punishment.

Must admit I'm of two minds on this, the fact we had eliminated it in the community and now its back, would suggest the only way was thru the border.

Many have spoken about it before, but given the economic implications of continued lockdown, especially in NZ's largest city, why do we need to keep the borders open? Give Kiwis a time frame, come home by 'X' date then the borders close. Not having borders open to anyone including kiwi's is surely more economically viable than continuing to lockdown our major cities because Joe Bloggs decided it didn't suit him to come home sooner and he wanted to spend more time in a covid hot spot overseas before returning.

Remember:

Auckland at Level 3 from tomorrow noon until Friday midnight

Rest of New Zealand at Level 2.

Please stay at home in Auckland. No school, gathering. No travel into or out of Auckland.

So no mention of masks yet.  And people call Trump stupid...

On my Android phone the alert came through but it was titled ‘Presidential Alert’. I’m serious!

Please.

Enough with the reporting of receiving or not the damn message.

Not all devices get it. Not all cell towers get it.

If you must feel vocal, there's a separate thread about the national cellular alert system and official channels to report your lack of receiving by taking device and location information.

Thanks, yes, we are North but its in South Auck, even worse. This is bizarre coincidence but the first time we went to level 3 the partner had to go in for a serious surgery. And now again tomorrow it happens haha.

Surely support persons have now been allowed into hospitals, ie the driver.

That is the previous scale simply re-inforced

The official alert out pertaining to tonights release and finer details (posted previous), contains mask information

Wear them in locations social distance can't be obtained. Supermarket if you will, public transport.

It is highly recommended that you wear a mask if you are out and about.

Sounds like a lick from quarantine/isolation hotels. They emphasize testing workers at hotels and border :(

Learning it hard way again :(

Should travel be suspended between cities ie flights to and from Auckland, I would have thought so.

Im with you, just set a time frame and make it fair and obvious. We know cases have survived longer than the 2 week lockdown when they get back to NZ.

It might mean some jobs will be lost though if we close the borders?

But is the greater good of more jobs not being lost in our only semi decent sized city.

Well that is a lot better.  shame it has taken so long for them to get there.  maybe in a couple of month and a few more deaths they will get rid of the "recommended' bit.
