your pharmacy will have them.
Mitre 10 also sell very good kits which are both a med kit and have survival stuff.
I have used it a couple of times when i get stuck up a mountain in the snow when fixing a radio transmitter and have to sleep in the car up there.
The foil blanket is great in addition to my sleeping bag stuffed in the spare tyre bay.
I also keep muesli bars in there and a bottle of water.

I second the St John kits. If you go into a St John station you can usually buy your kit there, filled with the items you select. They can also put you on a mail alert list to send a reminder to you when items hit expiry and need replacing.

I have my own kit in a sealed plastic container in the car,  -   a variety of gauzes, scissor, cotton pads, bandage, plaster, glove and little vials of saline ( use for  contacts)

I did ask the instructor at a First Aid course  I was attending, as to what I need to keep  in a kit and the above is a minimalist kit that she recommended.
As you have guessed, this was not from the RED Cross training but a group called TriEx.

But saying that, I did buy a ready made kit from my Unichem pharmacy a month ago for $30
for the  house.

One tip if you do buy one is , do open the kit from time to time to get familiar with the contents and
also throw out and replace ones that have expired ( creams) or off colour ( bandages).

Saves time rummaging through the kit in a real emergency where you know exactly where everything is  !

cheers
