I am pretty into health these days. I gym according to body by science and eat semi-paleo/primal. This forum is surprising me, loads of good subforums, and lots of people :D Nice.

Anyway, I saw a topic about smoking, and thought I'd open up one about the healthier alternative - vaping.

I have a 700 mah ego style battery with a spinner voltage tuner - an iclear 16 clearo, and I vape WTA e-liquid (mostly VG), with atm, peach and sweet tobacco flavours. Although looking to get into some other semi-realistic fruit and desert type flavours.

Loving it, but occasionally get stressed and slip and have a nail.

Anyone else here vape? Enjoying it? What are you vaping and what with?

At various times I have used the Hydro E-cig, imitation cigarette, with nicotine.

Bit heavier than a standard cig, but has the benefits of nicotine (like patches and gum) but without the harmful tars and other chems ( apparently - one can never be too sure what else they put in the e-cig fluid).

But apparently now banned by the Ministry of Health, but still reasonably available

The fail rate for long term quitters (those who actually want to quit cigs), at around the 2 year mark, is around 95%. Thats probably more physically addictive than cocaine. It alters your reward pathways.

Pragmatically, 'just quit' is actually willfully ignorant. Its a very hard drug to stay off (especially without becoming a jerk about it, lol :P). It makes practical and logical sense to promote significantly less harmful alternatives, as well as abstinance, rather that 'just quit'.

Doctors and researchers have estimated e-cigs to be around 1000 times less harmful. There's no second hand vapour effect either. Really its just the nicotine which in itself is more like a strong version of caffiene (in terms of risks, its not terrible far off).

Do you drink coffee or energy drinks?

Different people have different levels of addiction. I was a very heavy smoker for 40 years and for the most part I enjoyed it, but like most smokers I didn’t like being so dependent on something other than food and drink and I finally reached a point where I wanted to quit. I made many failed attempts before succeeding and it was without question the hardest thing I have ever done. I have now been nicotine-free for 10 years and I can finally say with confidence that I am over it, but for many years (far more than two) the urge would still hit me at regular intervals. It was a constant struggle.

I have mixed feelings about vaping. I have never tried it but I wish it had been available to me when I was going through hell. On the other hand, if it had been, I would probably still be doing it today. It has to be better than cigarettes, but looking back I am glad I got through it and am now completely free of the monkey. I think that has to remain the ultimate goal.

At the same time, there is an awful lot of self-righteous holier-than-thou bs wrapped up in anti-smoking campaigns and some people who have succeeded in quitting do carry a huge dose of smugness and superiority around with them. These days the practice of smoking cannot be defended so opposing it attracts those types who get a shot of self-importance by attaching themselves to a worthy cause.

I am now glad to be a non-smoker and I think that is preferable to being a vaper. However, if vaping does not affect anyone other than the vaper, then I think it should not be the business of anyone other than the vaper. I for one am heartily sick and tired of self-appointed moral guardians who think it is their right and duty to protect everyone else from whatever they don’t approve of. There are already far too many nannies in this world.

Good for you. That makes you part of a very small percentage of people who attempt to quit, so you have the right to feel proud about that.

For me, I tried genuinely to quit about 6 times. I tried cold turkey, patches, nicobrevin, all failed within a few months. If it wasn't for e-cigs I would still be smoking. That's what you'll here a lot of people who vape say, so given one experience does not invalidate anothers, perhaps thats worth considering (and perhaps also the statistics on the matter).

Why do you feel that you need to imply that others shouldn't vape? If they are most likely going to either vape or smoke, would you prefer they smoked? IMO, better advise might be 'I reckon its best to try a few times, really hard to quit altogether first - and if you do vape, perhaps consider lowering the nicotine over time, to have a long term goal of quitting'.

I used eGo, LavaTube (two of these, broke first, currently using second purchased, over 1.5 years ago) and VAMO5 (broke one, which used for over a year, awaiting for second from FastTech).

awesome! nothing else :) but i still have cigi (does not happen too often, maybe once in 3-4 months) when drinking :)

a big fan of Liqua, but these expensive now, so I tried innawera from Poland last month and not going back to anything else!

Vaping for over 2 years now. Love it :)

also used lot's of different atomizers, coils, etc.. but best so far is DreamBT804... shame that over 1.5years and breaking down - it's plastic parts. Currently waiting for Kayfun Lite Plus V2. Might not be as huge as similar devices.

I have been vaping since april this year was half a pack smoker.I use protanks and mvp with thug juice from mt baker which has been good enough to put me off the cancer sticks for good.Tried using a 50watt mod + russian 91% but went back to protanks for the ease of use.
