Bugger, I like asparagus!
Focusing on a single element in foods and attributing negative outcomes to said element is a scientifically sound methodology but can rarely be applied in the 'real' world. Humans and the foods we eat are incredibly complicated with millions of variables involved. I'll continue to eat a diverse diet with a focus on whole foods and plants (including asparagus).
Asparagine is reasonably common - beef, dairy, seafood, soy ... others I can't remember
Lol, they must have seen the same FB post a friend of mine posted a couple of weeks ago....... https://www.snopes.com/medical/disease/asparagus.asp
