Good morning, for those that have the Garmin Vivoactive 3 (or another Garmin device if they have Garmin Pay).

I am considering purchasing the Vivoactive 3 and to help make my decision I want to know, does Garmin Pay work in NZ? Shops advertise that the watch has Garmin Pay but I see nothing indicating that it actually works here or that its not available yet.

If anyone has tried using Garmin Pay that would be great if you could confirm.

Thanks in advance.

It's a bank thing, much like Apple Pay. Here no banks are yet publicly on board that I'm aware of. I've been hitting up ANZ (more for something to do) as they've released it in Aussie so I figure they're likely to be first cab off the rank here. I've recently bought the FR935 but I figure my next watch will have GarminPay so I might as well hit them up about it so it's ready when I need it.

Big fan of the 935 by the way.

ANZ have had limitations on being able to offer things like that due to major infrastructure upgrades that have occurred in the past year. The move to Google Pay from their goMoney app will happen soon, and they could then potentially offer such services if they wanted to.

Hi everyone, we have an update for you! ASB Visa cardholders can now use contactless payments on Garmin smartwatches that support Garmin Pay. More info here: https://www.asb.co.nz/credit-cards/garmin-pay.html

And we are giving away a Garmin vivoactive 3 to one lucky ASB Visa cardholder on our Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/ASBBank/photos/a.417401536020.200088.341865911020/10155287356411021/?type=3&permPage=1

Why would ASB launch with a largely unknown payment provider before apple pay?

Cost would be my guess.

At a guess I would say that Apple are harder to negotiate with.

Have been waiting for this for a while (well since I got my Vivoactive 3 last year). Got my ASB visa installed on the wallet on the Connect app all good but my watch keeps saying "Wallet is empty". Have tried reconnecting, reseting, and reinstalling.

Oh well, Payclip still does the job

To be fair, I would have used it if it was ANZ and available on my FR935.

Grandad here.

I'll stick with little plastic cards that I can and do drop regularly on floor...

(Apple pay, android pay, garmin pay)
