TeaLeaf: Can someone please give me a good "fact" link on the situation with SpikeProteins and the vaccines, anything on the WHO site or something similar perhaps? Thank you. I know a person who has read some random info online about it and is fearful to get vaccinated. Sigh. I think possibly this may be one of the biggest problems that the globe faces with vaccine uptake. The old saying, don't believe everything you read etc.

https://healthfeedback.org/claimreview/covid-19-vaccines-dont-affect-ovaries-or-fertility-in-general-the-vaccines-are-highly-effective-at-preventing-illness-and-death/

The amount of spike protein generated by vaccination is extremely small; scientific evidence shows it doesn’t cause harm

quoteing: Technofreak:

Perhaps I should have been more specific. I was thinking about a website or page on a website that explains in layman's terms what is meant by the DNA changes ( the vaccine not ours), how long the mRNA process has been around and that it was already in use treating other ailments, how the testing took place and the ratio in "side effects" in both the people with the vaccines and those in the control group, etc etc.

There is currently nowhere to my knowledge where this information can be found in an easy to understand manner all in one place. The web page I mentioned did  pretty good job of this but it's been taken down

*******************

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/different-vaccines/mrna.html

this is how DNA works in my words

DNA = ROM memory. it's the blueprint/textbook for everything about you, the hard drives, but Read-Only.

it stays the same and doesn't normally change. but when the DNA needs to reproduce (backup) it prints another exact copy. the guy that makes this copy is called DNA polymerase. it makes a copy of the DNA from the mirror strand of the DNA. the only thing that can change it is if that poor guy accidentally makes a mistake when copying the DNA. almost always a very tiny mistake - exactly like a misspelt word, unless you have radiation damage for example would result in bigger problems.

mRNA = RAM. it's the stuff that is used to make proteins. like an active window/process in your operating system.

when your cell wants to make stuff it makes a copy of the relevant section of DNA. this copy is called mRNA. think of it as RAM. or a photocopy of page 576 paragragh 4 of the cook book. the mRNA is then used to make stuff. whatever mRNA is around, that stuff will be made. if you have chocolate cake mRNA, the cell makes chocolate cake. if you have spike protein mRNA, the cell makes spike protein. there are cleaners around that will destroy ALL mRNA over time by chopping the ends of it with a pair of scissors, constantly chomping one bit by one bit. new mRNA for whatever your cell decides to produce, is made new all the time and stuff is made from it until it gets chopped up.

this mRNA (photocopy) cannot write into DNA. just like RAM cannot write into ROM.

** hackers (viruses) have found a hack called reverse transcriptase. reverse transcriptase can make DNA from mRNA. The HIV virus has reverse transcriptase. these viruses are called retroviruses. some primitive organisms use this method to reproduce. the vaccine and covid does not have reverse transcriptase.

these stuff is taught in high school biology, well at least it was when i was in high school last millenium

I have moved this thread out of the Politics sub-forum into the Health sub-forum.

There's no reason for vaccines to be a political thread.

Also - any of you post anti-vax misinformation here you are banned from Geekzone.

THINK.

Rather ironically, not thinking (for ourselves) is exactly what the anti-vaxers accuse the rest of us of!

The Stuffs "The Whole Truth" is pretty good - both videos and full articles

Debunks myths, and give good explanations

Produced by Stuff in partnership with Māori Television and the Pacific Media Network, The Whole Truth: Covid-19 Vaccination counters the falsehoods.

It explains the topics prone to misinformation, and seeks to inform rather than inflame. It does not advocate for policy positions, apart from transparency and accuracy in public debate.

On this page, and across a range of social media and print publications, The Whole Truth about the Covid-19 vaccine is published through a series of videos, graphics and words.

So let me get this right. If you think for yourself, and your thinking brings you to the same conclusions that the overwhelming majority of reputable experts have arrived at, and are reported with varying degrees of accuracy in mainstream media, then you cannot really be thinking for yourself because only the Lil' Q-ties on YouTube know the real truth, which was whispered to them by Bighorn John down the street, who heard it from the crystal lady who has a cat that talks to angels.

On the other hand, if you just accept what the cat says, you must be thinking for yourself, because no-one who thinks for anyone else would ever come up with such a dumb idea!

For me one of the area's where there seems to be little data on is how much vaccines reduce transmission in the community. There doesn't seem to be much data on this, and we are stuck with using the effectiveness of the vaccine as a lower bound for effectiveness at stopping transmission. Would be really nice to have more / better data on this.

Other things I would like to know:

  • Full decay curve over time (to say 2 years) for the pfizer vaccine effectiveness.
  • How the pfizer delta specific booster trail / program is going. They seem to be being super quiet on this to keep orders flowing for their current vaccine.
  • When our Novovax doses will be ready. Some are reporting Novovax to be the best covid-19 vaccine, and it holds promise to be the best at stopping transmission. https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2021/06/novavax-now-best-covid-19-vaccine/619276/
  • Effectiveness / safety of boosting pfizer with Novovax (one vs two doses)

Maybe some leeway could be given for people asking or discussing things in this one thread.

Sure, banhammer for people who are eating apple flavored horse dewormer and claiming the govt issued vaccines are the poison, but if people are discussing the potential of something new or questioning these alternative treatments or trying to figure out more information maybe show a little mercy.

Some people who are hesitant can be convinced that getting the vaccine is the right thing once they see the correct information that alleviates their concerns, this could be a better outcome for everyone.

But, your forum, your rules, im just a drone from sector 7G.

My go to for a bit of history on mRNA, know about since the late 80s, and how it has been worked with for cancer and HIV treatments in the 90s and 00s, and how long it has actually been getting injected into people, from the late 00s,  is in the following two links.

Something that would.d be useful knowing is how many of those in hospital are vaccinated.

Intuitively it does feel like that would be useful, but as it turns out it’s not quite that simple…
