There are various phobias people have. Some, we became aware of because celebrities have them
Fear of spiders, fear of germs, fear of closed spaces, even fear of batterflies ( e.g. Nicole Kidman)
To overcome fear of spiders and snakes you just stay in New Zealand and do not move to Australia :)
I knew that some people afraid of injections. I don't. But recently in response to my post about drive-through vaccination Centre, I realized that there is fear of needles and it could be serious. Not the fear of injection as such, not fear of pain (as it doesn't hurt). But fear of needles. Which becomes an issue from vaccination point of view.
How people overcome that one? Cause sometimes you have to.

Knowledge is the key

For example knowing that the vaccinator is trained to help with such a phobia will help. Another important aspect is to identify that it’s irrational and what that irrationalism is from eg fear of spiders is irrational because you don’t understand that they’re actually mostly harmless unless you needlessly interact with them

Phobia however is next level fear and will need preparation.

If you want to use VR - this is a Christchurch company. The evidence and theory is solid.

Just watch A Current Affair on TVNZ with a story of needle phobia..

Only took 2 hours of ‘therapy’ to overcome

MadEngineer: Knowledge is the key

?....

I never had any phobias myself, so cannot even imagine what people who have them really feel and what triggers those.
Somebody said they cannot even see commercials on TV showing injection images.
But I do not think that overcoming those is as simple as just knowing some facts.

Get a health condition that requires endless blood tests etc.

You'll soon barely notice the needles!

The needle doesn't bother me at all, but the sight of blood triggers something deep inside I have no control of. I've almost passed out a couple of times now from a simple blood test.

The nurses are really good. I usually just tell them I'm going to close my eyes until the blood is out of the room and they are understanding of it.

A friend of mine had this too, he would almost instantly faint at the sight of blood, out like a light. It wasn't as debilitating as it sounds, I wasn't even aware of it until years later when someone mentioned it in passing.
