Here's what you can do without too much effort with a DA polisher and Meguiars Compound, Polish and Wax. Looks like brand new again. Well worth the effort.
The paint had got pretty bad as you can see. I hadn't been polishing/waxing it as often as I should. It's probably been close to 2 years since I gave it a polish/wax, plus red is absolutely the worst colour to look after. Unfortunately this car sits outside which doesn't help.
This is the original paint at 17 years old. I always wash it with something like Turtle Wash and Wax.
There is no substitute for regular washing using a good quality car wash and wax interspersed with a good polish and wax every 4 to six months. No need for a compound unless it really needs it. Otherwise keep it out of the sun as much as possible.
