If she wants to go small but fun, I would very strongly recommend the Fiesta ST - small, light, can be economical if you aren't hooning it, and SO MUCH FUN!

She just won't touch Ford Fiesta or Focus and I will risk life and limb to suggest them.

Yep, It's been mentioned previously. The Mustang isn't nearly as bad as the headline implies.

I've seen that guy before on other videos - hell he rants, can't stand him.

Just because a vehicle has a 5 star rating now, it could be only a 2 star in four years time - doesn't make that vehicle suddenly unsafe in the future. If a car doesn't have lane departure warning or collision avoidance or whatever now it's not a deathtrap just because more modern or higher spec vehicles have those features.

You guys better not watch his nut-fest Fridays then! Though I do admit I'm getting a little tired of his constant troll baiting of religious and LGBT groups.

I do think he has a point though. If you can get past the trash talk, the most valid points he makes are that the Mustang as tested by EuroNCAP scored 2 stars in the technology section because it lacked features such as Lane departure warning and emergency stop sensors. But even if you disregard those then it only scored a 3 because of sub optimal airbag performance and lack of adequate protection for rear seat passengers.
While I would regard the rear seat as more of a parcel shelf than a passenger conveyance, if it has seatbelts then it is obviously designed to carry humans and therefore you should reasonably expect to be able to have them protected in a crash.
Would be a shame if the new Mustang becomes a driveway ornament because of a safety reputation. I can see Ford making changes, but it is likely to be accompanied by a $10000 price hike.

My wife came back from her latest trip away and has decided to completely rethink what she wants from a car. She has decided and I agree that the days of "more power" are over and it's time to think differently about cars. She likes the smaller cars that are coming out that have sensible power plants like the new Suzuki Ignis, the new Swift due later this year and the rapidly developing EV market.

BRZ? If not enough power supercharge it (a bit...)!

We are currently touring the North Island. We stopped in Napier and by chance was the Ford Dealer, we went in and saw a stunning black Mustang GT. Decided to take it for a test drive, a very nice drive indeed, we are currently thinking of putting one on order.

After looking closely at the NCAP test and realising that it is very misleading. It failed due to new back seat requirements , the Mustangs back seat is an ornament we won't be using, we have otter cars if we need a back seat. It also failed due to things like lane departure, blind spot and crossing vehicle things that are only starting to arrive early on cars.

The Mustang is not suddenly a death trap, if that were the case 90% of vehicles built in the last 5 years if tested again would only get a 2 or less rating.
