They were probably stolen in the first place.

Noodles: Has anyone had any experience submitting videos like that to the police? Are they receptive to them? Can they use them to prosecute?

Pfffttt, my experience is that the Police have zero interest unless you are someone in authority, the wealthy, politically connected, etc.

Last few times when we have had minor stuff stolen we did not even bother reporting it. Police have zero interest. The excess on the insurance is higher that what was stolen.

Its not that crime is falling, its that reporting of the crime is falling for the reasons I outlined above.

Wondering where that came from so searched. Noodles post from 2014 was related to the 1st post in this thread and had nothing to do with stolen property.

Watching 5 cyclists run through red lights today in Wellington, really makes my blood boil - not only are they endangering themselves but also endangering others.

Don't get me started about cyclists on the footpath...

People that seem to all drive VW Golfs of late. Fart boxes attached to the back end, blow-off valves attached to the front end.

They like to accelerate at ridiculous rates, going through the gears and having the 'pssshhh' from the blowoff valve and then take the foot off the gas to get the pop and crackle from their rapidly decreasing rev count.

They mostly are young people in the highschool or just-out-of-highschool age group (boys and girls in equal measure) and drive like absolute knobs.

Usually doing all of this in small tight suburban streets.

I think the fact that a lot of them are young and relatively inexperienced, is what is the most scary aspect of this...but it's nothing new.

It’s funny how people complain about the cost of fuel, and then they drive like that.

We had someone do that at 1am this morning coming into our short street then 20 minutes later on the way back out.

Rather quick for a midnight visit I thought (and my wife agreed :p)

Nonsense, plenty of time to do it twice with a 15 minute rest in between!

This applies mainly to young guys that only care about themselves, which fits in with the way this person drives.

Its not like they can ignite a carburetor full of fuel to create a decent backfire like old school cars

Are they driving GTIs or do they just wish they had GTIs so they pimp their car out?

Hard to tell at the speeds they're going, but I'd say at least some of them are driving either GTi's or GTX's as they have turbos (hence the blow-of valves making the psshhhh noise)
