Its still worth it for the live view of the cameras, the internet radio, and the enhanced speakers.

We are not talking about your parents cars, but of internet connected software applications. For an extra $5 pm you won't even notice it.

The live camera view is the only feature in your list you need the subscription for as you can use the hotspot from your phone for streaming services. I'm not sure what you mean by enhanced speakers tho?

I have found that the Apple podcast app can be hit and miss ... sometimes it will just sit there forever, unable to start playing the podcast. I am thinking of saving my $15/mth and going back to bluetooth.

Oh, I use Apple Podcasts in mine all the time and for the most part it works as it should. Occasionally it seems to get stuck loading but that's usually if I hit play just as I switch the car into gear which in turn switches it from wifi to cellular - I've assumed the change in geolocations while it's trying to load freaks it out.

My apologies! I thought that you got more speakers enabled with the package than without. But it was a premium package on 2025 cars.

Yeah, the extra speakers come with the higher specced cars. For the Model 3, that is now only the Performance version

Enhanced Auto have just announced their “S3XY Dash”.

A driver’s display for the 3 and Y that integrates with their Commander and also has Apple CarPlay / Android Auto.

€270 with the Back Friday duscount. They also spruiked an extra 10% discount in the email, but when I tried to apply it, it said “Not available in your region”. It took it below the €250 threshold for free shipping anyway.

I am considering it. The beauty is the guarantee of software updates, so less likely to be broken by a Tesla update.

The latest rumour is that Tesla has given in and is bringing Carplay natively in a future update

The latest update (2026.2.6.1) I installed today in my 2022 TM3 adds Grok.

Had a small play around with it. It’s conversational and has limited navigation capability but that’s about it for now.

You need premium connectivity for it to work.

I was not able to get it to sign in with my quick test this morning. Nothing came up in the app when it saif it would, and when I tried the QR code I had no saved passwords on the phone for grok. I have a feeling I may have used grok on one of my alternate browser profiles so will have to figure that all out.

Really would like to see it have more alexa like skills than just finding me places to spend money, but I guess that is their end goal to recommend places that partner with them.

I didn’t have to sign in. It just worked. As I understand it, the sign in is only if you use Grok on other platforms and want to the car integrated. You can select different voices and different “modes”. Plenty of videos of people trying it, but at the moment it has the usefulness of the “whoopy cushion”.

i guess it gives me someone to talk to when I’m stuck in traffic on the way to work.

I've used it to ask for any traffic delays on my commute to work. It was accurate to mention the existing set of roadworks that I already knew about, plus a new one that had been established today.

Maybe every time I drive I'll just ask it what delays I can expect.

Put it in Conspiracy mode and ask it about tomorrows weather forecast. Then ask it why the weather is going to be whatever it is.

I logged mine in, turns out I was using my twitter account on grok. Grok on desktop shows all my interactions with the car one. I asked grok on desktop to remember an address for later and it said it would. I asked the car grok to take me to the address I asked it to remember, and it said that it cant access that.

Its quite useful for telling me travel times when i ask it to navigate, but on Thursday when I was coming home from curry and the motorway was blocked down to 2 lanes on the bridge and I asked grok why it was so bad it had no answer for that and actually said there was no reported roadworks, but they were showing to waze.

Long way to go, but the tesla has gone from one of the worst in car voice responses that couldn't understand many place names to probably the best one.

It was able to get trip advisor reviews of the place I was going to which was pretty neat.
