Journeyman:

He sounds like a boomer. They had no real driving standards when they got their licence. Now they think they own the roads.

I can assure you that while I fit into the boomer category, the driving test I was required to pass in order to obtain my driving licence contained comprehensive written and oral questions and the practical driving test was conducted by a uniformed specialist traffic officer, who frankly I found somewhat intimidating at the time, although I passed.

So yep you might want to rethink that statement...

Hey, he wasn't driving a 4WD was he? 😉

No, it was quite a nice little modern hatch. I don't know what he thought shoving me out of the way to get one car ahead solved when he got off at the next exit. There was just no way in hell he was going to slow down or let someone in.

Imagine being so fragile that you can't bear to let someone in on a motorway on-ramp where the lane is ending. Like how devoid of meaning must your life be that something that matters so much to you that you'd risk getting in a wreck just to do it.

Having dwelt on it overnight, I've decided I just feel sorry for the bloke. But having said that, he's still going to really hurt someone because merging apparently threatens his masculinity, or as previously stated, someone else he does it to in South/West Auckland just won't care about getting home to their family as much as I did and they'll make sure he knows it.

Like @allan I am from the baby boom era (not my fault, sue me) I am over 60 years old. I have held my drivers license for close to 50 years. My license is clean(no endorsements). I have completed two advanced driver training courses (1 defensive and 1 offensive for want of a better term). I have had no at fault accidents. I own an SUV for reasons I stated earlier in this thread and have owned SUVs for many years.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I notice this in Auckland particularly, drivers don't want to let you change lane.

As ridiculous as it is, I am often surprised (pleasantly so) when someone gives way or offers a slot in the traffic.

Maybe that is why so many park in the Consulate car park - oops I mean Cycleway, because they have so many cameras covering it!

ROFL. Good luck getting any security footage if car goes missing.

They must have been told to save the Consulate's secret policeman the trouble of smashing a window to search the car.

The moderators here are exceptionally quick at responding to concerns - you can use the report post option to bring it to their attention. Can't expect them to pro-actively screen every single post.

Can everyone just cool down, pull your heads in, be respectful and maybe the thread won't get binned. (that goes for me too)

Can we stop using terms like this to describe people?
