D1023319: Very slow trip due in part to slow cyclist on road riding in front of bus in Oriental Bay directly opposite the new cycle lane.

That's a common problem in Auckland along Tamaki Drive. I personally think if a cycle lane is provided, cyclists must use it and be forbidden from riding in general traffic.

When is not cold, the bus does not have aircon and no one opens a window. The whole thing is muggy and windows are foggy.

PS. Thanks $deity someone opened a window. You know it because there is this instant flush of fresh air.

freitasm: It seems it is almost every day. The bus shows up on the app as coking at a certain time. You wait at the stop. It shows as coming in four minutes. Two minutes. Then it disappears and the next one is 30 minutes.

It happened last week twice. It is Monday and it just happened.

Metlink on Twitter doesn't even bother replying anymore. They just ignore reports. Wellington City Council says it is up to the regional council. Regional council doesn't reply to queries.

What a sad service.

This happened to me yesterday. And it happened again today. Number 24 Bus. It's very frustrating standing in the rain waiting for a "ghost bus" that counts down as coming, and then just disappears off the board for no apparent reason.

Plus, I'm sick of the buses being chronically overloaded and very frequently having to stand all the way.

I am currently contemplating leasing a carpark and giving up on public transport.

You guys need to notify Darran Ponter about this. Not long ago the regional council were crowing about how this problem was resolved so if it's still ongoing then it needs escalation.

Oh, I forgot to post here... Please excuse the vertical video as the picture isn't important.

This driver had the radio at full blast, three days in a row. I complained to Metlink every day, sending videos every day. Drivers aren't supposed to have the radio on - and certainly not on Hosking at 8am, for goodness sake...

Well my 6:55am bus was cancelled today :-(  Leaving me standing in the dark and cold morning waiting for the next one which of course was full. No notification on the Metlink app but I did get a popup (after the bus arrival time had elapsed) from Google alerting me the bus had been cancelled, scraped from the Metlink web site!

All this is generally being ignored and will be dismissed as "some teething problems which have now been fixed" in the run up to the 12 Oct GWRC elections. If you genuinely want to see change, getting those currently in power removed from their offices should send a fairly clear message.

Having said that, the apathy which tends to affect New Zealanders as a whole when it comes to such things means that probably nothing will change.

The only issue with this is that most GWRC councillors had zero or only very minimal involvement in the actual changes. While those on the Sustainable Transport Committee oversaw change, it was the operational staff from GWRC incl Wayne Hastie and Deborah Hume that lead the change.

Changing GWRC councillors won't change the GWRC operational staff who designed, implemented, and still continue to be business owners of the bus network who have to accept the ultimate blame for the failure of the changes.

Correct but those in the top offices are vigorously defending the whole change and are being quite bloody-minded in their refusal to accept that things have been stuffed up really badly. Hence my point about sending a fairly clear message - replacement councillors would have no doubt about being on notice.

Hey guys,

Worth noting the bus review web survey is up for those in the Eastern Suburbs - they are also asking questions about Snapper etc.

I really feel for you guys and the bus service, from what I have read and seen it looks like a complete stuff up from woa to go.

Its been some time since this was rolled out, to quote my favourite movie

"Let's look at this thing from a standpoint of status. What do we got on the spacecraft that's good?"

Anything at all ??

The two major issues that I am still experiencing are:

  • Ghost buses. Yes, Metlink supposedly fixed this problem some time ago but yesterday afternoon I was waiting for a #1 bus outside the Empire cinema, and the RTI counted down to the due time and then it disappeared off the board. It was a 15 minute wait for the next bus. Whatever they did to fix it clearly wasn't permanently effective.
  • Timing of connections at the hubs. At certain times there are no core services arriving at the hospital in the 5 - 10 minutes leading up to the departure of the #29 feeder service, yet soon after its departure there are several. This problem was made worse by timetable changes that were made about six months ago.

First one happened to me last Friday.
I am annoyed that express buses are no longer express...

Personally I don't have a problem with the radio being on, but if it's at full blast and far too loud that you can't hear yourself think then it's a problem.
