Main thing is convenience of not having to connect to your phone but also the satellite view on maps. In addition, I've found that tracking where the car is via the app super handy (when shared by other family drivers).

You can use your phones hotspot for data and the car should auto connect to that now, so most things ( youtube, streaming music etc) will work that way.

You wont get satellite view or live traffic visualisations on the map, thats about it (and routing with navigation still uses traffic data back end).

(you can still track the car via the app etc)

Its just less convenient

with LFP if you are a low mileage user do you keep it charged at 100% all the time?

what if you go away for a few weeks?

do you need to discharge LFP to minimum once in a while?

The Tesla Gen3 wall charger seems to be competitively priced. Has anyone has a recent install done. What was the install cost?

 

I bought the Tesla WC gen 3 in October '21 when it was $835. It's $870 now. The install was under $100 as I had the sparky do a couple of jobs for me that day. Mine is installed on the wall outside right next to my grid power board ....next to my driveway. So very easy to do.

Not sure what you mean by correct charger? any type 2 wallbox correctly installed should work. The tesla gen 3 one is a good deal.

And so there’s little that annoys about the Model Y, much to savour. Sure, the ride could be better but it’s no deal breaker. Especially as the price is certainly agreeable, the efficiency is great, as is the general ease of use and practicality. Get in before prices rise (they are bound to as they have overseas) and delivery times blow out.

The last paragraph made me laugh somewhat.

According to a post on Reddit the made in China Model Y is reportedly showing up in Europe with parcel shelf. The post have a photo of the shelf.

Hopefully we will get that shelf for the Model Ys that will be delivered to New Zealand.

Yeah, I read that too… ack including that is better than nothing but it’s not a great design, as it’s pretty solid and looks like it will need to be removed when wanting to use the full height of the boot. I’d much prefer the typical after-market types, which fully retract.

That said, the solid design may help with an interesting comment in an Aus review about the level of noise coming from the rear half of the vehicle.
