I had a few muppets while driving down from up north to the waikato.

I drive an older car which is in really good nick so I am used to everyone wizzing by when im sitting on 100-110km/h on the open road because they think I am standing still.

This has got me mad to the point I need to say something... I was in nearly 2 major accidents on this single trip alone where coming up to a passing lane the line of traffic will go from travelling 70km/h to 110km/h+ so I follow the lemmings and speed up also. People maybe 5-6 cars behind me obviously see my car and think im holding the traffic up and MUST get past. This isn't a problem but their urgency to get past blurs their vision of the passing lane ending as the pull out to pass.

This leaves me slamming on the brakes and driving in the dirt as they swing widly into my lane to get out of the way of oncoming traffic. Aftertooting the horn and flashing my light to vent my frustration I get pulled the finger out their window.

I don't know if it is a coincidence or not but both times were smokey diesel SUV/4x4's.

I know how you feel .. I just got myself a commuting/fun car .. Smart ForTwo (yes one of the roller-skates you sit in)  And even though its speed limited to 130 and I do my commute from Mangawhai to Auckland at 100km (ok well maybe 110) I find that no matter how fast I'm going the bigger cars MUST overtake!  (and god forbid if I overtake them! that causes them panic attacks!)

As soon as I play with the ECU they'll get a shock! ;-)

I had that when driving back from Blenheim today, was crusing along at 100-110km/h and some black 4x4 came up behind me and started tailgating me - at that stage I was doing 110km/h. I let him pass and hoped to see him in a ditch rolled over later on (ironic I actually caught up to him and passed him later on doing 80km/h, idiot achieved nothing)

Hehehe .. Spoken like a kiwi !

You what they say about guys with big cars? "Big car, small ...." ;-)

That said Mercedes have loaded the car with all the nifty safety toys, and you are basically driving a roll cage with wheels :-)
I'm enjoying it, high giggle factor on the twisty roads!

I'm driving mums old huyndai Getz while I'm painting my car.

It's scary how less respectful other drivers are to tiny cars compared to a mid size one.

Encountered some more muppets driving from Palmerston North to Napier yesterday. The rear camera is very wide angle so don't really show how close the bumper huggers actually are. Sufficient to say, if I had to break for an emergency they would hit my car good.

Last second of the video is of a muppet that wasn't happy with how far it was until there was a passing lane..

A couple of months ago I drove from Auckland to Hastings, spent a few days driving around Hawkes Bay and then headed back to Auckland (around 800 km's) with no problems.
Watch the car in front of me when we got into Auckland.

I love flashing my rear fog light on those bastards. Not sure if they think it's an unmarked police car or what but they back off immediately.

Almost didn't pick up on that one. Nice and safe lane change at the end there..

I would love to have a couple of airplane landing lights set up in my rear window for bumper hugging muppets to shine extra bright..
