With ford vehicles, be careful not to confuse the "Transit Custom" and "Transit". Competently different vehicles. Latter is much bigger.

Only the transit custom is offered as a PHEV. But ford NZ do have a pure version of the transit coming

https://www.ford.co.nz/commercial/e-transit/

It will probably come in over 3500kg GVM, so essentially be considered a heavy vehicle need a COF, and get a 90km/h speed limit etc.

Personally I think we should move the threshold for light vehicles up to 4250kg for pure EV's. Much of Europe has already lifted the drivers licence threshold for pure EV's (not an issue in NZ as can drive 6,000kg on a car licence thanks to the campervan lobby). Still with vans allready coming close to or maxing out the 3500kg, having an EV van will mean giving up payload or crossing the threshold.

Batman: 20k price drop just like that. Imagine the margins they are making selling things to NZers

To be fair ford seem to crank up their list prices so they have room to negotiate into. And to run sales etc.

On the escape a farmlands card is worth a 9% discount.

Still, dropping Transit PHVE prices $20k at a time when new vehicle prices are climbing does suggest they have a heap of margin to play with.

Got my rebate this morning from the Govt; took ownership of the car at 1pm on the 7th; sent in the required paperwork around 1pm on the 8th (while waiting for the ferry) and the payment was in my account at 6.30am on the 16th.

The only piece of communication I got from them was that they had received my application.

(then I promptly spent $3250 on paying for the paint protection film I got installed yesterday)

Does anyone know if you bought an imported Tesla that would normally qualify for free charging, would it be free charging here?

Maybe this has already been discussed.

Does the legislation mention the number of wheels a freebate vehicle can have?

I read motorcycles were being excluded,

Honestly I would gladly pay my taxes to get loud motorcycles off the road.

Any three wheelers always had strange regulations around them in NZ. And they are 3 wheel EVs.

After getting the cash last week, I got the confirmation that I was getting the refund via an email this morning.

Since they're listing the cheapest ones, the only EV is an MG

Kicked off nicely.

I'm guessing a mix of leaf already here and not registered, Mitsubishi phev's they'd held onto and half Junes supply of model 3 + 192 MG ZS evs!

Be interesting see how this goes going forward, some long lead times on some EVs plus limited supply of used from Japan.

This Government has pretty much patently ignored treasury since they took power. Little wonder so many of their policies don't pan out the way they expect.

It would seem like this one is panning out well.
