But I can see the buildup at Peka Peka over Easter will be horrific with everyone thinking TG has solved all of Kapiti's problems. I hope to be proven wrong but the last couple of years have seen travel times between Waikanae and Otaki be 90+ minutes.

Yep, same thing happened with the Kapiti Expressway, opened and was excellent at dumping traffic at McKays every morning.  Same thing will happen on morning commutes for anyone north of Porirua, good times ahead!  Should make for speedier trips home though if you live south of Otaki

Anyone south of Peka Peka will love this, but for anyone going north of Peka Peka will still have to deal with the issues between there and Otaki. That next section can't come soon enough.

I'm so over drivers doing 60 in 80 and 80 in 100's, the cracked windscreens and the stone chips on our cars. Honestly the one we've used mainly to get to Porirua didn't have a mark on it before we started but now it's absolutely covered in stone chips.

PP2O is progressing really well, you can get a sense of how far off it is from the regular updates they make on Flickr... They are starting to put up the digital signboards so that is a good sign we are not too far off

Now we just need to get shovels in the ground to build the Otaki to Levin expressway, feels like there is an accident at least once a week along the current SH1

The push for Otaki to Levin will only increase once the PP2O section is completed,  People will experience travelling from Wellington to Otaki on a fully lane divided Highway standard Road and then they will get dumped on the Goat track that is SH1 from Otaki to Levin ,

(particularly the really dodgy bits south of Ohau, with Narrow off camber 60 year old bridges...)

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

That stretch of road can be a real nightmare. Drove from mother-in-law's place in Waikanae to my parents in Te Awamutu on Boxing Day (heavy traffic day to be expected) and it took over 2 hours to get to Otaki.

Interested to see if this cuts down the journey time to Waikanae - we live in Lower Hutt. Will test it out next time we go up to the MIL's place, although that's probably going to be over Easter so maybe not the best time.

Looks like getting the Mobile dead-spots filled in is going to be a bit of a problem

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/mobile-blackspots-parts-of-transmission-gully-will-have-to-be-dug-up-telco-group-says/JCL2T5VTPP6SAERPL3ESKKBYFQ/

Seems very strange that the telcos submitted their comms plan the year the road was supposed to be finished (according to the article). Regardless of the ongoing delays, surely that should have been submitted well before then?

Presumably you previously went via Ngauaranga?...   T/Gully  via Pauahatanui will be any interesting time comparison as long as SH58's not a mess..

surely when doing the survey for the route they would have gone, oh no mobile coverage, maybe we should approach someone about this.

If it wasn’t in their contract they didn’t care.

PPPs are wonderful.

Common sense doesn't come into it with large construction contracts. It's just the way they are especially with LDs of $250k per day. Anything outside of their scope is irrelevant to them.
