New its outselling its closest competitor 2:1 and that car is a third cheaper.

Its certainly not a cheap car but in the NZ EV space its a bargain

They have communicated well RE my Friday delivery appointment. Will be very quick and via the app. I reckon they could process quite a few this way.

I wonder how long it will be before it's more cost effective for Tesla NZ to get NZ specific mobile connections vs roaming Telstra AU connections. I'm no expert when it comes to mobile roaming costs, but I can't imagine it's an overly cost effective way to have thousands of cars roaming from Australia at this point.

In the case of Starlink I think they're waiting on the ground stations in NZ to be completed.

Collected my car today. Thought I’d share my experience for those who are looking forward to the day. First thing, the car is awesome. Beats all the expectations I had!

After getting myself to a big industrial park in Mt Wellington I got to the gate and was waved into a drop off spot for my old car. A staff member checked that I left keys etc and then ushered me towards the main building. I was asked to sign in via Covid app at the door and then had to sign an acceptance form on an iPad (all socially distanced). I was asked to restart my Tesla app,
hit accept on the app and then my car was visible.

Another staff member ushered me to find me vehicle which unlocked with my phone with key cards in side. That was it (5 mins max). I spent quite a while checking everything via a big check list and to be honest the quality was very good (spent about 30 mins). No issues what so ever. My only niggle was the car prep was a bit sloppy. A bit of dust and dirt here and there.

Got in, drove home. Happy man.

In the time I was there I swear customers must have driven out 10 cars and there were quite a few people making their way in. There looked to be 100’s of cars there.

It was a well organised level 3 event and all the crap you read about Tesla quality is clearly historic. Obviously, time will tell RE durability.

100% happy and recommend. I’m not a Tesla fan boy. Had many new cars and this is just another one, but I am impressed.

This is a checklist provided by Tesla or obtained elsewhere?

I hunted around and used this:

The Model 3 has a nickname of being the "California Camry" over there due to them being everywhere...but seeing the pics of the yards full of them waiting for delivery over the last few months I feel like the same is going to be true for Auckland!

Are you guys concerned with getting the vehicle repaired? For example if you need a new bumper or new windscreen.

What will the availability be like?

Not really? From reports of those that have had windscreens replaced it's as simple as going to Novus or Smith & Smith to get it replaced. Someone also had a bumper replaced within two days of it being ordered.

They keep an inventory of parts at a warehouse in Melbourne.

Most major centers have approved repairers and there are parts available, obviously depending (and on the usual world chaos of 2021 too)

When was that ?

I know of two M3 owners, both have damaged rear bumpers, who have been waiting since May/June for parts.

One still drives it, one is ashamed to be seen in a damaged car

😂
