An international license is not a NZ driving license and I don't think anyone will finance you (and possibly insure you) into a vehicle if you don't have a NZ driving license.

And BTW, in NZ we drive on the left.

i stupidly got a car loan from the company the car yard used. didnt see some costs hidden in the fine print (including $800 for mechanical warranty and a $450 admin fee).

so +1 your bank, thats what they are there for. I didn't even think about using my bank at the time.

I bought a motorbike via MTF years ago, and they certainly did seem to be one of the less painful finance outfits to deal with.

National Bank do a credit card which is essentially a card to use in lieu of HPs which has an 11% pa interest rate on it which starts accruing immediately (no 55 day leeway). It's a damn sight cheaper than the >20% that most finance outfits charge though.
