Not illegal, but an officer can see the worst kind of silliness as an offence and issue a ticket. Holding a street ull of traffic for no good reason when a clear alternative exists is aa misdemeanor for sure. Therefore kind of illegal.

Easy fix. double yellow lines, can't cross them.That will have other consequences but its an option.

Ah, not true, yellow lines just mean you can't cross them to pass a moving motor vehicle or horse drawn conveyance. Is is not an offence to turn across them or pass say a bicycle going in the same direction.

pretty sure you can still cross them to turn into a driveway/carpark, says so in the road code

It's illegal on roads that marked as no U turn.

I'd say you are effectively make a U-Turn, then parking. So rules applicable to U-Turns would apply. This also means anyone approaching on the correct side of road would also have first rights to the park you wanted.

what would make all of this safer is if City/town center speed limits were reduced to 30km and urban speed limits reduced to 40km
