xpd: Ive never been asked to sign anything taking a car for a test drive from a dealer....  usually leave them with a child instead...maybe they figure Ill be back. "Didnt say it was MY kid"

Yes.

When you take a car for a test drive they SHOULD get you to fill out a form that makes you responsible for any damage to the vehicle and take a copy of your license. I understand this is also for their insurance cover.

If they didn't then this was still the dealer's car and someone else destroyed it, so I would imagine damages would be a police matter?

Certainly sounds like willful damage the way the article's written.
