Johnk: Great news indeed.

Having an Amazon fire TV device already in use in the lounge getting new content from them should be the easiest it been yet :-)

Look forward to seeing what the new show end up like, same as before or new look I wonder?

the ex producer says its good to be able to film with no interference and a huge budget for each episode, not sure if thats a good thing with those 3 .

Common sense is not as common as you think.

lchiu7: ... For example my daughter has Prime in the US (half price since she got a student discount) and she added me to Prime so I can view Prime content. Often there is content on Amazon that is not on Netflix.

Does that work if your account is clearly in NZ, as evidenced by shipping address, credit card etc?

Secondly, I had a look through the content offering for Netflix in the US (via my wife's account) and found the TV selection extremely underwhelming and rather dated.  The selection of Movies was somewhat better, but how does it compare with Netflix, Lightbox etc?

I have several credit cards attached to my Amazon account with different shipping addresses, NZ and the US. Since she added me as family member with no cost, it didn't really care where I was since there was no cost to me.

To tell the truth I don't watch much Amazon, usually Netflix but Prime has a lot of content. Amazon is not a replacement for Netflix - an avid viewer would probably have both.

There are "few" shows on Prime

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Wow, saying they have a huge budget on the new show, looking at past episodes I was always under the impression that they had a pretty big budget already ha.

The interference may have been what the last show needed to keep it what it was imho.  I agree with you possibly not a good thing moving forward, things may get a little carried away.

Hope not, Hope its fairly similar to be honest.

Some people clearly have more money than brains! Maybe instead of borrowing cars, they are going to buy them!?

Just a random thought. Just because Amazon is funding the show, it doesn't mean that will be the only outlet. Like Netflix with House of Cards, Amazon could sell the rights to the show to countries/networks where their streaming service is not available. After House of Cards was shown on NZ broadcast TV3 before Netflix became available. Since there has been no announcement of Amazon Prime Video coming to NZ, it's not hard to see Amazon selling the rights to a local network (hopefully no Sky!).

The Poms are complaining though since Amazon Prime is available there so so they would have to pay effectively  £99/PA to watch the show.

Seems pretty likely. Netflix doesn't have a history of buying Amazon produced shows, and if as they say, they only buy global and exclusive content from now on this means they won't buy this show.

So it will hopefully get picked up by lightbox or neon rather than the old school broadcasters.

This article indicates that Amazon is likely to see the show to broadcasters also

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/bbc/11772803/Jeremy-Clarkson-Richard-Hammond-and-James-May-sign-to-Amazon.html

"Subscribers in the UK, US and Germany will be able to watch the series through Prime and plans are afoot to sell the show to other countries."
